I don't know how to generate an IRQ list other than manually. But, all of my devices have their own IRQ, no sharing. I've changed the aperture anywhere from 64 up to 256 with no difference.
Different video drivers produce different results, but none that I've tried so far keep the game from crashing or locking up the system at various points. Obviously, the game has some problems that are exacerbated by various external influences within a given system.
Here, in the Matrox support forums, and in usenet alt.comp.periphs.videocards.matrox, I asked if anyone running win98 and a g4xx
card could successfully run the game. Not a single person has responded in the affirmative.
Perhaps the only fix will be from Matrox or Croteam, or both...
