Wombat, I must admit ACPI was my next suspect after the USB.... does ACPI actually work to the good of any system? I have had nothing but trouble with it on all my systems.....

I agree with you, some Win2K users would be quite helpful right about now.

First of all, you need to install the i815e inf from Intel. Then you need to uninstall your Matrox drivers using add/remove programs/Matrox Software. Then reboot, when windows picks up your Matrox card, hit cancel, then run the setup for the 5.52 drivers, you should be good to go.

Yason, go here http://developer.intel.com/design/software/drivers/platform/3961/inf_utility/lic_i nfinst.htm

Then on then bottom of the page click on "Yes i agree ...", then on some server (the US web server preferably).

When you have d/l it, unzip, run setup.exe et voila.

Download the
5.52 drivers double click on the w2k_552.exe, unzip them somewhere eg. C:\Matrox\552\

Then download the
PDUninstaller

Run the uninstaller, when prompted, reboot. Windows will ask you for drivers once rebooted, click Cancel. Run the Setup.exe from the 5.52 drivers and then reboot again. Ok?

Sorry if i`ve kept it too simple guys, but i think it`ll be easier for him ...

NO!

DON'T run the uninstaller! USE ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS!

The uninstaller is for earlier versions of powerdesk. The addd/remove programs does a complete job with the later powerdesk.

Although that might not be entirely true. I checked the new uninstaller, and it's dated as May 16th 2001 on the Matrox site. It also states it's for every Windows including 2000.

This utility is used to uninstall all Matrox software, including display drivers, Powerdesk software and video capture/editing software ("Matrox Video Tools") in Windows 95, 98, ME, NT and 2000.

Yeah, listen to Jorden, it's not like I haven't tried this myself

If you haven't bunked an install of drivers yet, just use Add/Remove. If you have messed up the install by using an .inf instead of the setup under 2k, use the uninstaller to get you started again.

I haven't tried the new uninstaller Matt, I just checked the date and all, since I never heard of a PD_Unin201.exe

My bad, okay?

No problem it's just best to get in the habit of using add/remove programs to do your driver uninstalls, all drivers will eventually get to this point, and Matrox has had theirs functioning quite well for some time.

Im back.

Not to say "I told U so", but somehow I just NEW that a Soundblaster Live (value even!) would be involved.

Im really happy that All You people are trying to help us out here. I have checked all the suggestions so far, and I have tryed them all, to no avail. Yes, all my units are on IRQ 9 too, thats just the way the cookie crumbles, at least under win2k. I have all of Intels patches (even the new udma4 ones) and all the newest drivers and bios. I REALLY dont think theres anything to do.

Yason, U sure U have the same problems under Direct X? I Only get these freezes in opengl.

Thx Rags, Jorden, OmegaRED, DentyC, HollyBerri, Wombat, Alec and al.
