  • Parhelia texture quality?

Okay, we all know that 16X FAA kicks ass. But what about the texture quality? This is the only thing keeping me from buying a Parhelia as I'm unsure of what to do.

    - First there's the 30.30 Detonators for nvidia cards that is supposed to improve quality. Then there's the Omega drivers. I have an Geforce 2 card right now running Omega and 4X FSAA and it looks very nice.

    - Then there's ATi with their 6X FSAA and 16X anisotropic filtering+trilinear and amazing speeds at that.

    - Then there's Matrox with their 4X FSAA. Why do the textures look so good in 4X FSAA mode with the Parhelia?

    - Here's a link to a more detailed post I wrote on this:

    - And a link to the article showing better texture quality in Parhelia's 4X FSAA plus some 16X FAA incompatibilities with stencil buffers

So which one has the best image quality?

some of us talked earlier about texturing quality on P.

You can browse toward the end of this thread in which we talked about texturing quality of P.

Sounds good, I wonder when it will be out?

All the stuff about great 2D and even their text anti-aliasing sounds great. Just wish the price would come down more.

is high-tap aniso really disabled in the drivers, or is it just impossible to select in the drivers GUI?
the question is, has anybody tried to mess around with the regestry to see if it is possible to enable it that way?
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

speaking of "messing around" with the registry, can anyone tell me where is the directx directory under windows 2000/xp. I want to enable the anisotropic filtering on the g550. Also, is there a way to turn on the vertex shader and the T&L (according to anandtech the g550 has a RISC T&L engine for headcasting?http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1492&p=2 ) on the g550? and is there some kind of shading device on the g550? (i.e. pixel shader?) Please tell me how to unlock the features. thanks in advance!

hehe i m really curious of what the g550 can actually do except for headcasting.

Edit: Does anybody know how do fix the broken EMBM on the G550?

AFAIK the vertex shader is not dx nor opengl compatible, its for headcasting only.

regarding anisotropic filtering, check out this thread: http://forums.murc.ws/showthread.php...isotropic+g400
