  • UT2003 Glitches

So far the glitches i've encountered include the following:

    1) Pixel Shaders I assume are the issue with the water in the first deathmatch map, offhand I cant remember which but the reflective water that appears on the ground actually disappears. The second system in my house is equipped with a 9700 and doesnt experience this issue.

    2) On this same map, when going under the hill through the passageway {pic attached} the Pillars {dont know a better word for them I assume youll get a better idea by checking out the attatched picture I've included} seem to disappear when youre a certain distance away from them (the pillar to the right of the entrance way is missing, youll notice theres one on the left).

    3) On the second deathmatch map {i think this has been reported already}, the fan blade shadow's distort.

Other than these issues the game seems to run well and looks great, the pixel shader issue is by far the most annoying of the issues ive encountered thus far, although still liveable

    Thanks,

    Mike

Yes these issues you're reporting only happen in Surround Gaming, it's quite hard to explain. Originally we had an extra command when we worked on Epic to avoid that, but at the last minute they decided to remove it. If the problem becomes very annoying to you, then i'll ask Epic to reconsider adding it back,

Thanks ROM, not terribly annoying just wanted to make sure it was a known issue The water would be great if it would return. Im pretty sure I had the same problem though in single monitor mode, ill try it again in a bit.

Thanks for the quick reply, you guys are great,

      Mike

        Evening!
I have the same problem with the water in single-monitor mode, because I have only one screen, I can't use triple-head
The water is there and then suddenly it disappears

          Aahh!
I was wondering about those splashing sounds when I jump, turns out to be missing water effects.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

No no, you're all misunderstanding this. They decided to remove it since it wasn't a big deal that the things are dissapearing, when people are busy fragging each other they wouldn't care about that. Just like they pulled detail texturing from the demo to save on the space, are people worried too much, i don't think so. If you guys think it's a big deal, then we will put it back, so please don't start making rumours about Parhelia, Epic loved us since day one when we showed them the card at GDC

I have the fan blade shadow problem in DM-Asbestos as well. This is on a Radeon 7500 with the Catalyst 2.3 drivers.

detail texture does work in the demo, they are enableb by default.

npatches doesn´t seem to work though.

So, you had some sort of fix/workaround and Epic decided to remove it Does this make sense

Apologies if this goes off topic...

Quite honestly, this is just the sort of problem I was sort of expecting the Parhelia to have. The G400 had excellent support for a couple of years and then when it was clear that it didn't show a game off in the best possible light, developers quietly tried to ignore it. The Parhelia comes to market at a time when developers are very closely connected to 'other' manufacturers and I hoped the card and its features were enough to get back on the 1st line supported list. In fact in UT2003's readme there is NO mention the Parhelia Not amusing considering the use of the Surround Gaming feature to show off the game/card combination.
                    Cheers, Reckless

LOL what was the give away

Anyway...its pretty interesting that Epic used the Parhelia to demo it if its sponsored by Nvidia...
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

I think its sponsored by Nvidia because of the Big Nvidia Logo/Intro at the beginning....
