I don't think these bugs have any effect on Half-Life or any of its mods. I've never had any of these problems when I had my G400, except early on when the drivers were not too great. The GLQuake bugs were there back then. I'm surprised they still exist.

You probably can't change r_dynamic for the same reasons as gl_texsort, lightgamma etc. Because of "cheating"

If you're trying to say that the dynamic light issue does not exist in Half-Life/CounterStrike...you're wrong

I say this not because I have tested this myself, but people from Matrox that I've spoken to know about it as well.

I know that when I talk about playing Quake 1, what I am realy talking about is QuakeWorld.
But, Quake 1 and QuakeWorld do not render exactly the same way.
I wonder what effect that might have on the perceved success of a fix for Quake 1 generaly.

I just tried soem glquake matches, and the framerate drops a bit in intense rocket fights, I donĀ“t know how much, but it was a bit annoying.

I guess this bug affects glquake engine games too.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

Well folks we got some good news, we think we fixed the problem. I am going to play Quake 2, GLQuake, Half-Life tomorrow and will let you know if it's solved,

I would like to take this opportunity to let everybody know what a good experience this has been, with respect to getting things ironed out...

Other than self-discovery, the only way these guys can knock out these bugs is when we bring it to their attention...from what I have seen, Matrox is doing a a super job of not only addressing some of these bugs, but providing feedback to the community.

Keep up the good work ROM (and crew)...It really has made a lasting impression on me.

On a sidenote (before I forget), I emailed Derek Smart (BattleCruiser developer) the other day, and he completely agreed with me on the topic of the P...It really did get shortchanged, in many respects...But more importantly, he would tell you that Matrox has a far better driver team than that of ATI.

I also asked him about some Surround Gaming action, and he said that he's just swamped @ the moment...

That's because he spends all his time posting to Beyond3d isn't it?

                    R0M,
Would you give glquakeworld a try too please?
For one thing, it has an FOV command (unlike glquake) and might work with surround gamming!
                    Thanks,

I've never had any issues with my G400 MAX with Half-Life or any of its mods. Is it just low performance or are there other problems?

I did have performance problems with GLQuake and Quakeworld though. Sometimes I had texture corruption and lighting problems. But that was in 1999 with the early drivers, and I figured it would've been fixed by now.

GLQuakeworld doesn't support custom resolution even though you can change the fov just like Half-Life. The fix should take care of Half-Life, Quake 2 and GLQuake so everyone should be happy,

                          WOOHOO!

One of the reasons I bought the parhelia in the first place was because of the driver-quality, and you guys didnĀ“t let me down.

                          Thanks

Alright, it's confirmed that they're all fixed. I played today with Quake 2 using Typedef's patch for Surround Gaming and dynamic lighting on and i was over 70 fps, so that is been taken care of. As a reminder the bug with XP and SP1 is already fixed. So the only one which is remaining is the Tribes 2 slowdown, we almost nailed this one too,

                              Good deal...

I've got one title which you guys should really check out...Of any/all software that I've used on the Parhelia, it's the most screwed up one

I'm referring to Tenebrae Quake...This is that mod that's supposedly using Doom3-like lighting techniques. It's pretty darn screwed up looking

indeed, but i dont know if you can 'blame' the software engeneers for this, tenebrae project has just begun and can be considered very beta. it does look mouthwetting hot though!
