Well, Snake Eyes and I were messing around with the "Buddies" tab in the game browser earlier tonight. Theoretically, if you enter someone's name (Add Buddy) to your list, you should be able to find them. However, we had mixed results. While we couldn't seem to find each other directly, we were able to find the same player that we arbitrarily added to our list, and then play on that server he was on.
We still need to figure it out better, but add our names as follows: Beezer|MU| and |Xm|Azash . And in the mean time, we'll try to log onto the irc channel before entering a server. It too bad they didn't incorporate the same irc system as the orginal UT. That worked really well.

The buddy list seems to rely on your buddies being tracked by the UT2003 Stats properties (which btw, I haven't managed to get working, even though the settings in the game say it is on now), so if your buddies aren't stats enabled, it probably won't find them.
BTW, I will get you back, Beezer.

You were right the first time Oboy. I can tell you from firsthand experience that a mob of hpb's can be deadly. And then there's always that one guy that sneaks up on you with the flak cannon..

I am certain of that. Many times over...

Someone's got a basic version of Deck16 Classic for UT2003
The map's a bit small (needs scaled up by about 1/3), there are bugs in some things (hard to get out of the goop when you fall in), and it could use some of those swank fluid textures (like the water in UT's Deck16][), but it looks good and plays fast (even for 1v1).
Here's what happens when smart missles get too smart, and take over the game:
