back to the 1.01 drivers for me... GUI acceleration is no longer smooth when 3d acceleration is active. i saw lots of stability problems with Serious Sam 2... some other problems...

            ROM,

Was there changes to the FAA16? I have the feeling that now it is much more worse than before. Much more lines in additon to the already not FAA painted edges, are not anymore FAA painted. So FAA16 look's right bad now. What I want to see in the futuer is a 100% working FAA16 on ALL edges.

Is it only my feeling or is this realy the case? Who else has noticed this?

                Sure are beta drivers!

OK, I have some problems with VoodooLights, a great 3D screensaver that no-one here will care less about
Under 1.01 it ran at about 1 frame every 2-3 secomds, clearly unusable, under 1.02, it crashes to the desktop after a few minutes in OpenGL mode, and has flickering effects in DirectX.

AvP2, ok, here is a game that you will care about, the game's textures flicker like mad, especially noticible in Alien Nav mode, climbng up and down elevator shafts. Also the fog is badly banded, looks really stupid actually.

In general, I second the motion that FAA16X doesn't seem to be working as well, I notice jagged edges all the time!

However, I like the ability to apply different modes to different games, very cool!

Hopefully we'll have all those bugs fixed by Xmas!

Not ran Voodoolights in a while (actually not used a screensaver in a while, but anyway...), ran ok on my G400

What's the latest on the aniso limitation?

I'm getting the same problem as magog (corrupted desktop after playing ut2003) in this thread with these beta drivers.

And the screen flashes (very difficult to explain) in MOHAA.

Here's a dumb question...Being rather dumb when it comes to Matroxisms...

Is the overclocking panel giving you a range of percentages above and beyond the normal clock? In other words, when I select "10"....Is this indicating that I want to overclock the chip by 10%? It's not telling the chip to overclock by 10 MHz....right? Otherwise, I see no way of overclocking both core clock + memory...

                        Comment

                        • #27
Unless you want to do the BIOS hack, then the overclocker does indeed add percentages, so 10% would have the chip running at 110% of its original speed.

The core/mem clock ratio is fixed, so the mem will increase proportionately.

Note that if you make the overclock "permanent" then the next time you run the effect will be compounding, i.e. a 10% o/c on top of an existing 10% "permanent" o/c will give you a 21% o/c (and probably won't be stable!)

The "permanent" clock can be removed by deleting the relevant file - can't rememeber which one at the moment (perhaps someone else can...)

Here's an update for Unreal Tournament using D3D - this may apply to earlier drivers as well.

Set PD game profile filtering for Application Determine
                              Set UseTrilinear=False in UnrealTournament.ini

                              Load the game and
                              1) It looks like it's using Aniso when it should be using BiLinear
                              2) It crashes

Set UseTrilinear=True and it deffo looks like TriLinear filtering. So far it hasn't crashed either.

Now, set PD to Force Aniso and you get aniso, crashing and strange artifacts around light sources.

Lastly, regardless of any of the above settings there's some screen corruption going on

                              1) There's a white line to the right of the mouse pointer that follows the mouse in the menus
                              2) Armour and Health values top right numerics are sligtly corrupted
                              3) Ammo numbers on guns look - different.

One hopes that this is fixed .....

EDIT: Changing False to False didn't really read right
