I also played the demo now, I am not having those artifacts in the sky you are talking about, maybe I haven't really noticed them.... anyways, I doubt it's the memory, because then you would get problems in other games aswell!

About the game: I am not a big fan of racing games, but I looked forward a bit to the new NFS, now after I played the demo I don't look forward to it anymore. The Porsche drives like a POS
Also that ugly Ferrari isn't handling that good, the car graphics are looking good though, the tracks don't really.
There is a new demo meant for australians which offer two new cars, check out www.ve3d.com for the news.

Visually ok, fun to play if you really are a NFS fan, but HORRIBLE stutering with a Ti4400 even on 800x600x32 even if fraps never report fps under 50´s.

Is this "not smooth" feeling happening to you too?

interesting, fraps reports 20-30fps @ 1024x768 with everything maxed out and it still runs smooth... it felt like 60ish fps, i was dazzled when i saw the fps-o-meter...

I do like the sun reflections on the car, but thats about it. i could give you a list of maybe 50 cons.

Ugh how odd is this. I ordered this Mushkin ram with my board so that I could run it at 400mhz {DDR 400, recommended module by Soyo themselves}. Well apparently for some odd reason NFS is touchy to the memory being at 400mhz, so I switched to 333mhz and put my timings to 2:2:2, seems as though the problems gone, although it really frustrates me that this problem is due to either RAM or the motherboard, both of which are recommended to use side by side.

Atleast it wasnt my P causing the problem, I just feel kinda stupid I didnt think of trying this earlier.

Ermmmm LMAO, I set the timings to turbo, my 3dmark scores are substantially higher than they were with my memory at 400 for some reason lol, no complaints there up to 8528, time for some UT2003 Benching!!!

Strange, isn't it? I am also having this problem sometimes, 1024x768x32, 16xFAA, everything maxed.

From the readme: "For users with a Radeon 8500, setting the graphics detail settings to higher than default levels may cause an unstable PC environment." WTF is up with that? In fact it hard-locked my Win2K PC twice before I read the README and turned the details even DOWN from default.
Now it works, but I can't say I like it... I always used to think of NFS5 as an "arcadish" game but this is pure console crap... I'm not saying I couldn't play it occasionally but for now I'm going back to NASCAR 2002.

I'm running a Radeon 7500 with everything maxed at 1024(no AA) and it's relatively smooth.
