Yeah keep the good work up, just read on the matrox forums that they are understaffed and can't give any high priority to fix bugs in drivers or nag developers to fix the bugs. ;-((((
So we don't have to hope for anything spectacular from Matrox they finally said gaming goodbye.
One question/feature request could you apply your POP fix also on the no_cd version of POP (i've got one if you need it) because now the surround version is nagging for cd 2.
It aint the exact words that have been used but if you read between the lines i think they mean what i wrote.
This title is not a very popular title and we don’t have as much resources as we did for games.
Unless it is an easy fix that can be done on our side and not on the game side then it may get a low priority
So all kind of users are telling what kind of problems the have with different games, matrox staff is able to reproduce them and then says oke we know it maybe in the future (if we have some spare time) we will look into it / fix it.
to answer who ever asked about raven shields fov. Im not saying its impossible to change the fov its just the command is no longer fov (number) as it used tobe in the ut 2k3 engine, I believ u can still change it, just not using that command. IM gonna research on it and if n/e one knows it plz let use know.
Well, it's nothing to act surprised about.
It's been known for quite a while that Matrox gave up on gaming.
The day R0M was relocated, news was posted here, and on the main page, stating surround gaming was as good as dead as far as Matrox was concerned...
Core2 Duo E7500 2.93, Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, 4gig 1066 DDR2, 1gig Asus ENGTS250, SB X-Fi Gamer ,WD Caviar Black 1tb, Plextor PX-880SA, Dual Samsung 2494s
You are right but I had expected/ thought that the move from ROM had only impact on the reactions/help on the forum (and then mainly on the surround part) but not on driver development / fixing bugs that wasn't a task from ROM or am i wrong?
I think that matrox still has to fix bugs that are known and confirmed by their own team.
R0M's move was just one indication of the situation.
He was the only person there that had regular contact with game developers, and pursued new games.
By eliminating the one and only game dev position, Matrox made a clear statement that they didn't care about games any more. It was obvious at that time that they would not be expending any more resources on games than absolutly necessary. No dev rel, no heavy marketing towards gamers, no unecessary man hours in any department for games.
Not only did they stop trying to get new games, they also stopped caring about existing games (tech support not included).
That's not to say they will not ever fix gaming bugs...but game bugs automatically get bumped to the bottom of the priority list. Most fixes we will see in games from here on out will be because of bug fixes in 'real' apps that just happen to also fix various game bugs.
Matrox is simply no longer interested in games, and will not do anything they don't absolutly need to for gamers.
