I've been using the cat4.3's and have no problems. I have everything at high quality with no aa/af @ 1024x768

Runs fine on my OC'd 9500pro.
about 25-45 fps average, more in the 30's tho, at 1024*768 no AA/AF.

if i add AA or AF, it gets choppy.
All the ingame settings at the highest possible settings. v.high or higher.

This is the best game i have played since half life, the images are just so beautiful, and the gameplay is sweet...
On level 13 right now, and i have been told there are 30 levels? if so, this is one HUGE game, and so it should for 3Gb of my HDD...

if there was a reason to get a good DX9 card, its this.

edit: oh, and it needs over 512Mb of RAM, caught it with task manager, using 700Mb...and the loading times on my friends GeForce FX 5600 Ultra (with 512Mb DDR system memory) are much slower....but he has an 'unfortunate' crap card. That and his ATi 9000-64bit...next time he calls me b4 buying a vid-card

Have you guys checked out ultra high water settings? The reflections on the water on amazing to say the least. It is worth checking out even though it is a big performance hit.

BTW - If you choose the highest quality settings it doesn't pick ultra high water. It just selects very high water. You have to manually change it.

I finally loaded the game today. I have most settings on high, but not all and the game runs pretty smooth. Is there there a command to show frame rate?

Got my 9800SE and found one of the pipes to be defective, but it still runs farcry without a hitch at 1024*768 at the highest settings, with no AA or AF. 30-35fps outdoors, so far. (on 4 pipelines)
and it seems to clock quite well too, getting 420Mhz with stock cooling... 256bit memory interface must be useful...

I played around with the "SandBox" Editor last night. Very Impressed! It is so easy, I had the basics of an entire multiplayer map within 10 minutes! We should consider making a MURC multiplayer map if anyone else is interested? I'm not that great with making these things but after fooling around with the editor, I feel confident that I could do it.

There is an option to allow the editor to randomly create some islands which is why it is so easy. Sure, there are advanced options do fine tune everything but it is nice for a newbie like me to get instant gratification Let me know what you think.

BTW, two mods that I thought would be fun is:

                      1. Lots of tall mountains with cliffs. Have tons of hangliders and only rocket launchers. We could have a hangliding, rocket launching fest

                      2. Have a bunch of buggies and a cool track that races over a small island. Have sniper rifles and rocket launchers. The snipers can hide in the hills to snipe the buggy drivers, etc...

Well, I'm always up for map-making activities. I figure I should finish the single player game and play some of the existing multiplayer stuff first though. Once you get into creating a map, time flies at warp speed! My current mapping project (UT2004) has already sucked up about 30 to 40 hours, and I'm probably only about 25% finished.

wow! 40 hours is a lot of time! When you get a chance, check out the farcry editor, let me know how it compares to the UT editor.

Does it run on the P (of course with the cfg edit) only with the Dx9 drivers? RichieG said this, but the demo worked well (with the old workaround) with DX8 driver...

Arrgh crappy Parhelia drivers, I get a reproducable BSOD (mtxparhd.dll) when entering the "Cooler" level. Guess I have to play with the videooptions again to find a workaround for the BSOD . Time to upgrade to another card, and sell this one on ebay.

The performance is ok, but you have to play the game on medium settings otherwise the game crawls, and then it's still full of driver bugs disappearing trees, disappearing textures, etc .
