The engine looks cool, but let's keep in mind that it's only working on one character, with no surrounding environment. A real game would add much more stress to the system.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

well, kind of... it's static displacement mapping. (done in VS 2.0 unit. ) and afaik, it needs CPU for converting color information to vertex data. (nVidia's Displacement Mapping on NV40 is pretty much same, except now Vertex unit can read displacement data directly from textures. Still, it cannot tesselate mesh dynamically, like Matrox does.)

Matrox is still only one implementing dynamic tesselation on displacement mapping. (though it looks like, it won't be revealed by the drivers ever.)

umh... yeah, well I ment the DX9 drivers. (I have heard that it is some sort of hack to get it working on DX8.x, but because I don't know how it works, I don't go further.)

Maggi, shall I say the thread I am next about to post or are you sure you can find it by yourself? this second thread you post just after me, during short period of time.

LOL ... must have been an incident, I'm really not trying to chase you or something.

If I feel the urge to post something after you replied, I'll wait for somebody to post in between first ... ok ?

About DM on DX8, it was available from the very beginning that Parhelia got launched, simply because there was no DX9 in sight and Matrox needed some way to show off their DM approach, which is still the best implementation available imho.
