NP. You have to wonder how many times they've reset the counter though!

Well, I posted this info over at hl2.net just to see what they would say. They already closed the thread and said that noone knows and the info is a best guess. And apparently they have reset the counter several times LOL.

OK, I need a few more posts to hit 4000, so I am going to post this mostly worthless info.

Earlier this morning, over at PLanetHalflife, they changed some text to say, "The countdown is on!". This lead to speculation of course and within an hour or so, the text was removed and replaced with "Nothing to see here, Citizens. Move along, move along.".

Now, that doesn't mean much, but while people speculated about the above info, one of the mods posted the following:

Which of course led to more speculation. Now, I would personally say that is a pretty damn big hint. But hey, I'm just guessing and having fun lurking over in the half life forums.

And last, they doubled the bandwidth on Steam within the last 24 hours.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention too that after the fake gold announcement, oen of the Admins from teamradeon.com spilled the beans and said halflife2 was to go gold "next week". He said this on Sunday, so I am not sure if he meant, this next week, or next next week

I know, I could be spending my time doing other things but I'm not

I go to a Raider pre-game and come back and what do I find? HL2 pre-loading phase 2 All of the audio files apparently. Another step in the right direction

The latest as of Sept 5th

                  From: http://www.halflife2.net/
We reported yesterday how it has been reported by Doug Lombardi that they will finally send an RC to Vivendi on September 15th. This has lead to an uproar within the community once again about Valve's timekeeping and scheduling abilities.

However, vigilant forum member, Feath, has posted an interesting thread, detailing quotes from various press releases and e-mails - just showing that this is something we should have expected all along and hopefully his post will set all the confusion straight. Here's a snip:

This quote clearly states that they aren't going to send a Release Canditate till after the CS:S beta has started (or ended). This makes more sense if you consider that there's no point in submitting an RC until you think you have a bug free game. This is an important quote because people seem to ignore it and concentrate on the one quote above. Valve changed their plans, they decided to submit the RC after the CS:S beta started. They are allowed to do that.

I looked in the Steam Directory and I dont see HL2 in there...where are they hiding it so I can check to see if I'm downloading it or not? I have the first part for sure but the rest I have no idea
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

I'm not at home so I can't say for sure, but if you click on the HL2 icon in your games list, it will either have a progress indicator or it will say there is a locked copy of HL2 on your system. If it says the latter, you probably have all parts.

The other thing you can do is right click n the system tray icon and click 'monitor', to see if anything is downloading.

                          C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\base source shared materials.gcf - 1.01GB
                          C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\base source shared sounds.gcf - 972MB

The third one hasn't started for me yet.

Assuming someone didn't guess Gabe's password again, the RC went to Vivendi for approval yesterday. He spoke here:
