They did announce the 15th.. I guess that's one deadline that they've stuck to!
The Welsh support two teams when it comes to rugby. Wales of course, and anyone else playing England

OK, so it has been confirmed that the RC has indeed gone to Vivendi for approval.

I'm assuming that they will take approx. one to two weeks to qualify it and it will go gold soon after

      Time will tell...
Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

LOL and how many more Steam downloads to go? LOL
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

My guess is 2 more steam updates. One this week or next and one more when the game is ready for release.

I read over on Anandtech that we won't see it till November the earilest, with it taking a week or two to find bugs, fix them then resubmit it, get it published etc.

Steam users wont be able to use it till the release date anyway

I didn't think that submitting a RC to Vivendi wa part of the QA process? I thought it was just to get their seal of approval?

RC means that they are submitting what they feel is a stable, almost bug-free version of the game. At this point, their is a code freeze. This means that no more bug fixes are allowed to go into the code.

They give the game to Vivendi to test. I am assuming Vivendi has some kind of QA dept. that will test the game, or atleast a part of the game that still needs to be qualified. If they tst the game and find no bugs, the game will go gold. If they find minor bugs, it will probably still go gold. AT this point, I can only see a showstopper bug like a crash, stopping the game from going gold very soon.

I am fairly confident that there will not be a second RC.

Looks like Dutch/Belgian magazine PCGamePlay will have a full review of HL2 on October 5th

I can't read what they wrote, but apparently it says they have played through the full game.

Karl the Pagan writes "Following on the heels of a previous Steam-related story, Vivendi Universal may block Half-Life 2 distribution via Steam. Additional motions can be filed until November 18th, but since Sierra/VU have final QA approval on the HL2 gold is it possible they could delay the game un...

Valve has already stated that they will release the game through steam regardless of the lawsuit.

Looks like the first HL2 review is this week. Based on one comment from another magazine and this cover, I predict they will give the game atleast a 98%. I'm not saying it will be a 98% game, but that is just my guess.

BTW, the comment I am referring to is from an email that someone sent to the magazine and this is what was said.

uziholda: ...was [Half-Life 2] what you guys expected?
                            Mark Donald: More
I know, it's not much, but let's hope it is close to true.

Where do you see that? I follow the HL2 saga pretty closely and I haven't seen any such thing. The game will be out on Nov 2nd. If it isn't, I'll eat a big hat

It will go gold on or before Oct 15th.
