  • I hate this - it is taking 4ever

Can anyone please tell me what is going on ?
It would seem i have got my hands on a work unit which seems to run 4ever.
Currently it's 15.23% complete with 6 h 22 mins of work. My normal average time pr. work unit is currently around 4 hours.
What is going on ? I'm thinking about skipping this work unit so it won't slow my average return time down.

          Guys, give me a break!

What is the purpose of deleting a work unit just because it will take too long to process? If the only reason you are in this is self-gratification then get out. This is a scientific program, not a competition. While the competitive side makes it fun, it is not the sole purpose. If it is your sole purpose, maybe you should quit wasting your time here & get your butt to the gaming sites.

and yes it is scientific but there is not much science in wasting 41 hours on processing one work unit while i could do 10 work units in the same amount of time.
and yes it's very competitive and no i'm not doing this for myself i'm doing this for myself and MatroxUsers (MURC).

                  Who's gonna analyze it then?

Think about this: Maybe this was the wu with ET in it? Wouldn't you feel stupid then someone else gets the credit for finding ET?

What seti@home client are you using, and what os?

I've had fast units and slow units. When I get a 43 hour unit (I've actually has 4 of those on 1 computer) I'm very unhappy, but I process it. I would never dream of deleting it just so I wouldn't hurt my "average time" or because I was afrais I would fall behind someone else. Heck, maybe they'll get a few of these puppies themself! I just hope everyone doesn't delete the hard units & save themselves for the easy ones!
