Maybe time to return that THINK wu then.

Now, was it CHHAS that needed a buffer against you...

Let's atleast see if I manage to kick you down to #30.

As I said earlier, I tried re-installing Think, but it wouldn't work. Somehow the server has eaten my password and forgotten about it, I don't know

You bumping me down to #30 isn't so much a problem, as long as you bump CHHAS down a couple of days later as well

Anyway, right now I am downloading the whole of season 5 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so I'll probably watch a couple of those episodes as well during the week, bumping my G@H down again.

        I should be easy pray

Outproduced by Jorden again, oh the shame, the shame

But now I've managed to find a hardware monitor that claims to be able to shut down my system if anything strange happens, if this works I'll run 24/7 for a while

Not at all, it's been rock solid ever since I built it, but I just want to avoid my Athlon going melt-down if the fan dies.

I would say if you are that worried about the fan dying then its defiately time that you look for one of the ones that has an audible warning if it stops spinning while power is going to it.

I saw them somewhere... but don't have the time to go look for it right now.

The only thing is if you start your computer it may chirp a little until the fan spins up.

Either that or put a huge Fan in your case that will funnel air over the HS in enough volume to save your a$$ in event of a meltdown. Hook this to a thermal sensor that sets it off if the temp hits a certain amount near critical...

I am sure the Vaccuum Cleaner sound will alert you to any malfunction.

Or just get a switch or potentiometer (sp?) and hook that up to the huge fan so that when you are leaving your computer alone you can crank it up so that it helps in event of a meltdown without causing too much extra noise pollution when you are actually sitting at the computer. (Just turn it down or off)

Well a beeping fan wouldn't do me much good if I'm at work now would it ?

I found this MBprobe proggie that claims to be able to shutdown the system if certain parameters are reached, including temps and fan rpm, so I have to test it sometime.

Or if you had lots of spare time and a net connected computer at work you could use PC anywhere and just watch your MB Monitor on the desktop of your home computer and force a shutdown of the system if you notice the temps getting out of hand... LOL...
