Euhm, when I select 'disable network access', and a trickle is finished, will it just be put on hold (to be sent later) while the calculations continue?

Is there a way of having a non-internet connected computer make calculations? (if so, I could also configure my computer at home)

'To completion' is over 600 hours. But I gather that is the entire package.

Yup it will be put on hold if you disable network access and you'll get a flood of trickles when you re-enable

600 hours is the time to a complete climate simulation (3 phases of 24 trickles each).

Not sure about an offline machine - should be possible with copying of the data to/from that machine. Best done only to start a model and when it is complete (after 600+ hours) and not between - the data is quite large between then. Or if you can give that machine access to the internet at the start and end of the simulation it should be possible on dialup even - not sure. Should have some info somewhere on the http://www.climateprediction.net/ website or in the forums there.

Does more memory help i have 512 at mo?

Don't remember going from 512 to 1 gig helping much, if at all, on the pre-BOINC client - possibly though if you are multitasking a lot and have set it up to remain in memory when CPU is busy. I wouldn't bother too much though (having said that other uses of the machine certainly do benefit from the extra mem)
