    • I should have 3 more systems up this weekend. All crunching 24/7

      • Did you actually go out and buy systems for this? How do youget by another three systems?

        Not that I care either way though, well done :up

        We're #49 now, close to #48. It'll be 15k credits to catch up with #47, but at the speed we're going already, that shoudl be fine.

        Anyone running an Athlon64 with either 512kb or 1024kb cache? I'd be interested in knowing the s/TS for both, so anyone able to give me some details would be appreciated.

        I need a PC in the living room in about 7 weeks. Gonna build me a small one (SFF, the shuttle-like thingies). Still thinking on going either P4 or A64 route. The former is fast for CPDN but apparantly is also very warm (and it needs to be quiet).

          Well what happend is I was noticing that that a lot of SIS based Athlon XP motherboards were becoming no longer available. So... I found a place that had some and ordered up a few. Besides, I wanted to upgrade my slowest system.

            • @SF: So, you're in love with SIS or what? Anyway, I won't complain, all is well in helping us to #1

              @dshumake: Thx. It's P4 then.

                • Looking at the statistics on the climate page, the top athlon 64 has a sec/TS of 2.1 under XP, an FX51-1.9

                  The Xeons appear to be about the same as an equiviently clocked P4 under Win XP.

                  Opterons under Linux appear to be slower than the A64s running windows.

                  It appears that the total system / what is running, influences the overall sec/TS.

                  The Athlon 64 in post 275 is a 754 pin job.

                      • No, this has been in the making for some time. I manage to contribute about 5 to 6 trickles a day most of the time.

                        • Now if some of the 664 SETI users would come over and start cruncing we could get into the top 10. But there appear to only be ~13 people who contribute there.
