    I am starting to believe it is an driver issue as well!

    I am almost sue AGP trexturing works fine in OpenGL in Win2k, but about Direct3D I am not sure... UT with AGP textures runs ok, but I don't know how many megabytes of textures it uses...

    And since 3DMark says it can only use about 16MB of main memory for textures, something fishy might be going on..

    I've posted this bug on the Matrox forum, and am very interested in their response

      The Rock: 3DMark works fine in Win2k, and always has on my pc, even the v1.0 version (the non win2k patched version). I never had problems with it, so I don't believe it is 3DMark

      I also loaded powerstrip, and it reports it can only use 15.8MB of RAM for AGP textures... something fishy indeed!

      Sounds like a driver issue to me!

        Hmmm; that does sound fishy. I assumed it was 3DMark's fault since I have the same problem, yet everything works properly under 98SE. I don't think it's a Matrox driver issue since I'm running a GF2 GTS, and I get AGP "wonkiness" too. Are there any other progs out there that stress test AGP texturing?

          use powerstrip to see how much main memory you can use for AGP texturing, and ask Brian R. about the Geforce2, since he has a Geforce 2 in Win2k without this problem

          update: just reread all the posts, and Brain has a 64MB card.... so maybe he has the sam problem, but 64MB textures is not enough to let is show up.

          Brian: what does PowerStrip says regarding the amount of RAM being able to use for textures?

              Sorry, you'll have to be more precise. I don't see any "available texture memory" or anything obviously like that.

                Just look at the "non-local DirectX memory"

                probably is the same on your machine I guess, if Matrox Tech Support is right in telling me this is a Windows 2000 issue...

                        huh? that's even more odd than I thought!

                        on your PC Windows 2000 sets the aperture size (or the nVIdia drivers) so that you can use exactly 64MB of textures in RAM.

                        I will put this in the thread on the Matrox Tech Support Forum on Monday, and I will wait and see what they will respond.

                            what do you mean? the local memory already is availble for textures for two interpretations of 'local'.

                            It already is avaible on the graphics card itself (PowerStrip's 'local' memory), and a part of the PC's ram (local memory) is used for textures (PowerStrip's non-local memory)
