Hold on! I've just thought of one massive fundamental flaw with this Dreamcast add on card - on what do the games come?? The DC uses GD-ROMs (1 Gb CDs) of which the first 20mb or so can be read by a PC, the rest is only for the DC.... although, it could all be a false marketing thing, and normal CD-ROM drives can read these odd discs by special drivers or something....

I guess you just plug a special CD drive into it...
Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

I'm surprised in this climate of everyone suing everyone else, Sony's been allowed to use the names PS1 and PS2. Surely they are IBM's trademarks or did they forget to register them just as they PC/DOS,(MS/DOS)

The GD-ROM issue is still one of the things that needs to be worked out.

If they can't get around it with software drivers, then having to buy a GD-ROM drive as well as the add on card would push the price far too high for most people. You'd be better off just getting a DreamCast.

I think the X-Box is likely to do well, the only problem will come if MS decide to tie companies into only releasing games on that platform (as I think they've done with Halo )

If companies are free to release games across both platforms at the same time, what you might see is multi-packs that include the X-Box and PC version of a game. I guess you could then link them up for LAN or net play.
