    Warning! Potential Spoilers Ahead!

Hmm, somehow I managed to miss your response until now Jammrock. Sorry about that.

Anyway, my problem with the ending of Unbreakable was not that it didn't make sense. I felt that it left you hanging too much. The problem was that you don't know if Bruce Willis goes on to become a hero or not. And then there was that silly message about leading the cops to catch the guy. That should have just plain been left out. It made an already marginal ending even worse.

Of course, I can't pick too much, because I honestly can't think of a way that the movie could have ended appropiately. I geuss I sort of feel like the movie was left open to a sequel or something, which makes absolutely no sense, because a sequel would be an action movie, which would mean that it wasn't really a sequel. I dunno, I just wasn't satisfied with the way it ended. As my friend who saw it with me put it, "I'm seeking closure and there isn't any", or something like that. Anyway, she's right, we left the movie feeling like the movie didn't end, it just sort of tapered off because no one could figure out how to end it.

Ok, thats enough ranting. I hope you understand what I'm getting at here.

    Ian

Talking of Shawshank Redemption earlier in the thread (sorry I've only just re-registered) - I've just seen The Green Mile, and thought that was great....
      Gladiator was pretty good too......

        Warning! Potential Spoilers Ahead!

        IMHO the ending of Unbreakable was what it should have been. To me it was a two part story;

        1. His evolution from ordinary man to super-hero, not a story of his super-heroic acts.

By the end the protagonist DID evolve into a super-hero and had performed his original heroic act. He had his powers, an unexpected enemy, a key weakness and a uniform. The uniform is what the closet scene after his heroic act was all about.

        2. The second part is the subplot of boy and father. Most young boys look on their dad as somewhat of a "superman", only to be disappointed later when they discover he really isn't. In this case the son found out quite the opposite. In fact, he had more confidence in his father than the father had in himself. This created a bond that wasn't present at the beginning of the film. This is clearly shown in the last kitchen scene.

All in all I really liked it.

            Unbreakable Spoilers

Thank you Dr Mordrid for understanding the movie. The simple fact that most people didn't understand the movie shows three things:

            1) The story moved too slow so people...

            2) Most people weren't paying enough attention to the movie. Probably because the story was movie so slowly and people don't have that big of an attention span. I would think after The 6th Sense people would be paying attention to every single detil in the movie, from colors to story line.

            3) Not a lot of people really know what comic book stories are about. They tried to explain it in the movie, but people weren't paying attention.

I need to go see it again. Enough of Unbreakable.

            End spoilers

I saw the DnD movie. It's a renter. It has it's moments...but not many.

But the movie I REALLY want to see is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I have not seen a single review that has said one bad thing about it. Everyone from the stuck up critics to the Gen X/Y critics all love it. But the BASTARDS at Sony Classic Films is releasing it as an artsy movie so it is only out on very limited release. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Jam - good you noticed the "COLORS"! On the DVD for 6th sense, they talked about how ONLY in certain scenes was the color RED allowed. I don't remember right now exactly what it was - I think when a dead person was in the scene. But did you also notice that in UB, they used the color PURPLE in certain moments? We'll have to wait for it to come out on DVD too, so as to hear the Director's comments on that one.

D&D the movie... LOL, what a riot!

I went and saw it with 8 friends and we had a blast! It was such a hokey movie, but we had fun!!

I think we had even more fun picking the movie apart afterwards. For example, the hero dude, kills the big bad sword dude, how? because he's a thief? Gotta love that! Ok, I don't want to reveal to many spoilers (such as it is), so I'll just leave it at that.

Spoilers for the DnD movie? It's the classic DnD tale. Some putz nobody becomes some super powerful somebody and kicks all the bad guys butts. Can you even imagine the exp the thief got from surviving all those crimson guard attacks. He must be at least level 21 at the end of the movie.

GOOD NEWS! Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is being released in my area. Friday night I will be watching wire kung fu madness with a story! As we say on the plains...YEEEEEE HAW!!!

Well, I got the Gladiator DVD as an early xmas gift this weekend

It's probably the best "long" film I've ever watched, the detail to storyline was perfect!
