I live in a well-to-do suburb of Kansas City. Public transport is almost non-existant. We have maybe 5-6 buses that go around the area. Otherwise, you're on your own.

The best about it you get the do gooders fussing about all the cars on the roads, Councils, Politicans saying they'll charge the car driver off the road and yet not one of them will do anything to improve the public transport.
I didn't like commuting to work and changed jobs to get away from it. All the proposed restrictions like tolls roads increased fuel costs are a tax on working. Moving isn't any option as the cost of housing or renting is far to high. The idea of taking passengers from one town or another is nonsense becuase people start and finnish at different times work in different areas of towns and who wants a complete stranger in there car?

I am proud to say I live in the city with the absolute worst large public transportation system in the country.

A year or two ago, I read that our public transportation workers have the highest rate of workers' compensation claims and related time off in the nation. Here are the two top reasons for the time off:

          1. repetitive motion disorder (understandable)

          2. passenger assaults (entirely appropriate)

The cable cars are nice, however, although I have not seen a single box of Rice-a-Roni in the entire seven years I have lived in San Francisco. (I'm not kidding. I don't think there is any Rice-a-Roni in San Francisco. It's all a big lie!)

Poor old commuters again in Leeds are having problems again with there trains. They haven't been running right for at least six months. It's boring listening to it every morning on the local news.

Thought that was all meant to get sorted out when they refurbished Leeds station?

Sounds like they could have made it worse .

I tried to get from York to Liverpool on the train... took about 9 hours and included a long stay in the old Leeds station, a coach to Manchester and then a TAXI from Manchester to Liverpool. Fare was £80 when I got out, good job the train company was paying.

They were wondering what they were missing and then they realised. The rail tracks! Thats why the passengers are using buses. Doh.
