Say, that cat should not be in the nursery.. Didn't your pediatrician tell you it is dangerous for your son?

And GAWD, your son BIG. My daughter just weighed under 7lbs when she was born. (Me remember all the blood and icky gooey stuff... yech..)

        Anyway, good luck!!

No-one wonders what the bookcase with the non-children books and the big stereo does in the nursery?

Congratulations guys! He looks much older than a newborn.. looks like he could suit up and play defensive lineman tomorrow! How late was he?

JamesA, depends on the cat.. I saw something on animal heroes once on TV. This baby girl was having trouble breathing, so the cat (who was the only one in the nursery) yoweled into the baby monitoring microphone, which brought the parents running. She had a blockage or something. The cat saved her life. They showed her at age 8 with the cat, and they've always been close.

Another thing I saw on TV.. They showed an adult cat being pretty tolerant of a baby pulling his tail, but when an older child did the same thing, he turned around and swatted back. Interesting.

Big dogs, that's another matter.. they can actually kill a child. But again, depends on the dog. I don't know about infections.. seems like the parent is more likely to transmit those (No offense, Gurm ).

                    ------------------
                    Kind Regards,

Cats or dogs neither one will harm your newborn unless they like to eat children

Seriously, cats are a good partner for newborns, as are dogs. Those old wive's tales crack me up.

CONGRATS on your newborn, they are great!

I am NOT kidding!! Read this:

I think it also depends a lot on the child itself. At least I was a real nuisance at the age of 2 (and I still am ). My parents got rid of their cat because it was bothered by me a lot (can't remember it myself), and I've also been bitten by a dog when I was age 3 as well. But I bet that in both cases the animals didn't do it 'just for fun'... they won't do a thing unless they feel threatened by the presence of the child.
