      Holly:

Hmm... a story? Well, we're not sure if he was conceived at Disney World, with the Magic Kingdom Fireworks going off outside our balcony...

Or the following weekend, during a quickie between our friends' wedding and the reception. (*wink*)

But as for hijinks along the way, there was the fall in the icy driveway, the spinout of the BMW on the icy mountain road, and... err... well we DID name him kinda funny.

      All:

He was named after neither Wolverine, nor the airport in Boston, nor the quasi-futuristic Michael York (although if he lands a hottie like Jenny Agutter someday, that would be great) nor even Max's boyfriend from Dark Angel. Nay, we simply liked the name.

      fds:

Of all the things there are to argue about, I have asked people in here NEVER to try to argue with me about religion. But since you bring it up...

If G-d asks of us, as a ritual of obedience and love for him, that we perform brit Milah, then it is not our place to gainsay it. That is one reason. Another is that, since the medical community cannot decide whether circumcision is beneficial or not, BUT concludes that it does prevent a large percentage of juvenile urinary infections (and other assorted nasties), we feel that it is a good idea.

And just in case you're one of the rabid anti-circ nuts running loose out there (not that I think you are, but you might be!), let me say for the record that neither I, nor any of my friends (who DO NOT happen to be Jewish) feel that we were wronged, cheated, robbed, or scarred by being circumcised. K?

I was more fortunate, they call me "the folder."

Er.. Religion? I'm afraid I don't really know much about any kind of religion, and wasn't aware that you are actively practicing it. I've never heard who G-d is.

It's only that I'm scared by the notion of doing something to somebody else which cannot practically be undone for the rest of his life.

I'd feel just as uneasy (if not more) if it was about putting a permanent tatoo on him before he's old enough to take the decision for himself.

That's evident you will feel that way. Much the same as any of us who weren't circumcised will believe we aren't missing out on anything.
Doing otherwise would only make you feel bad about yourself. There aren't many people who wouldn't instinctively avoid that.

I was only wondering whether it's worth taking even the smallest chance that he won't like it, when the whole question of whether he is or is not circumcised is not making any real difference to you.

About the only valid comparison on which is ultimately better can only be made by women. ;-)

              fds,

I did consider that. I really did.

If it were purely an aesthetic issue, or even purely a "cleanliness" issue, that would be one thing. However, as Jews we are required by our deity to do this. Simple enough, no?

Never too late, Nuno. Thank you.

Julie's family is huge, as is mine. We're STILL getting flowers, calls, mail, etc. etc.

And expect it to continue for a week or so.

P.S. He's being good so far. Sleeps 4-5 hours at night... just not the right PART of the night yet. (12-5 would be better than 3-8, no?)
