      Joel I'd refer you to.

      http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum3/HTML/004081.html.

Via have also put out a statement verifying the 686b bug. I've also seen machines at work displaying the classic symptons.

If you can get to run longer than a month without crashing be my guest. Thats my best so far.

Incredible compared to intel BX chipsets on a Compaq motherbord
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

Life's a lot easier if the darn thing would crash in the same way and on more regular basis.
So apart from shit Challenging is a good description.
What makes it worse is my old bx just sitting there chugging away happily collecting weather data. Thats fallen over once with faulty memory and once when one the cooling fan came disconnected.
The old supersocket7 that it replaced worked without a prob as well. But this abit is TROUBLE.

I built PCs in a computer shop as parttime job, and almost all the PCs we built are VIA KT133A / Thunderbird combos. I've come across some really weird VIA problems... I agree that they CAN work fine in certain configurations.. but VIA chipsets have never achieved the compatibility and quality of hardware and drivers that Intel chipsets have.

you want to hear just 1 example of silly VIA drivers, which I came across just today?

I needed to install win98 on a PC without a diskdrive (don't ask me why, that's what the customer wanted). When it was installing all the hardware devices, all went fine, untill it was going to install the VIA USB driver... CRASH. No matter how many times I tried... CRASH... untill I connected a diskdrive to the PC, and enabled it in the BIOS (and did NOTHING else).... then it would install the USB driver without a hitch.

I've been running my new Asus A7V133a motherboard and Duron 800@1035 for nearly a month now without a crash that was not due to my fscking around.

Had an Abit KA7 before with an Athlon classic 700@875. Had some problems with it, but after selling it to a friend and trying to get it setup for him it seems it is nearly incompatible with EVERY MF'kin' sound card on the planet. That was probably the problems I was having running it with an Aureal SQ2500.
