Quote from Overclockers.com:

"We Americans are slow to anger, and many have mistaken that for weakness. But do not ever make us mad. And this has made us mad. Not emotional, hysterical mad. Cold rage mad.

If I know my country, America will say, "Now it's personal." And if there is any human force greater than the wrath of a United States united in ingenious will, the world doesn't want to know about it.

So we will find and count and bury and mourn our dead. Then we will do what has to be done. Whatever it takes.

Whatever it takes."

This is just terrible and the US will want vengence, I just hope it's focused on those responsible.

This is a bad day...

For now, my thoughts are with the families and friends of those who have lost their lives, what a terrible waste.

Evil Evil Evil Evil

This was our US office, I as out there a few months ago. Working in 1 WTC (with the spike). Those building were so huge, made our (UK) largest tower look like a small house.

At the point of collase there was no information if everyone from our office got out OK, never mind those on the higher floors. Just hope not too many people died.

Makes our system problems of the morning (when I was thinking it wasn't possible for anything worse to happen) pale into insignificance.

I just hope the US doesn't react too rashly and lead onto WW3, even 25 thousand people aren't worth wiping out the world for...

Anyone got live news on this -> what happened to the other three planes? When I left there were 7 reported hijacked, but no mention on normal news.

They just gave an estimate on the death toll. They said that in the Twin Towers alone there are an estimated 10,000 dead most likely more. There were estimated 50,000 people int he buildings at the time. This will eclipse (by far) Pearl Harbor which untill now has been the most devistating attack on America, on American soil.

When America engages in military actions we are very careful to only target military and strategic locations. There are always stories about asprin factories and schools, but we didn't TARGET these places. These cowards take it straight to the civillians.

I don't exactly know what the organizations responsible wanted to accomplish. I don't understand why they would basically tell the most powerfull country in the world that they are ready to go to war. But notice that they don't declare war and fight it out, they target the CIVILLIANS of America. COWARDS!

They have effectively signed their own death certificate. They have given America no choice but to retaliate.

Chris, there are still 6 planes unaccounted for. There are on order of 25 planes inbound from abroad but they are expected to arrive safely.

Nobody knows where these 6 planes are. They may be enroute to other major cities in America.

This may not be over yet.

Here is a news site with video of the plane crashing into the building and the buildings collapsing. http://www.nbc5i.com/
I don't know if you will be able to get on, but it is easier than any others I have visited

I hear one Airliner is still missing and that fighters are looking for it.
As for the Palestineans dancing it shows how sick they're are (and any others celebrating) and how far we've got to go before this evil is removed from the world.

My deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this horrific and despicable attack.
To purposely attack a large concentration of civillians is beneath even the basest of human morality. Those responsible must be hunted down and punished.

If anyone else has read Tom Clancy's "Debt of Honor", then no doubt the similarities between the ending of that book and this attack are horribly obvious.
Its impossible to defend against a 400 tonne airplane over a heavily populated area - shooting it down will cause as much damage as letting it hit the target.

Well, not the whole world, but maybe Syria, the Iran, Afghanistan and Palestina would suffice for some years. The whole world could live better and with more piece without those *constant* disturbers.
Sorry, but seeing the Palestineans (and other islamic people as well) reactions on this I sure think they deserve death.

What can I say...

Here my wife and I are about to bring a new life into this world within the next week or so, and I'm not sure it's a very nice world to be in anymore.

No, scratch that, we don't live in a very nice world.

My heart goes out to all those that have had their lives blighted today.

I hope the entire planet turns on those that did this.
