A TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES
This, from a Canadian newspaper, is worth sharing. America: The Good Neighbor.

Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television Commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts.

None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.

I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10?

If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy,
and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times - and safely home again.

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke.

I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."

Stand proud, America! Wear it proudly!!

    Amen!
Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

A Few Words - 12:48 AM PST- Tuan
    Hi Guys -
I just finished another Tuesday, and about to head off to bed to sleep and get ready for work, tomorrow.

On the other side of the country, people will have no rest, no sleep and all they will have for the coming future, is grief, pain, anger and devastation.

Earlier today as I browsed through the comments on our front page, I looked at some of what was posted and it just burns inside me that some of us have the time and emptiness of heart to criticize each other. I read comments about Canadians turning around and blaming Americans and vice versa. People are pointing at each other, at other ethnic groups, people with different religions, and even blaming President Bush for doing a poor job.

Frankly, everyone is now doing a job they thought they would never have to. I, personally woke up this morning, thinking today would be another business day. Did any of us think otherwise?

We are all in this together, everyone, and anyone. Whether you are an American citizen or not, the world is in silence but yet the ringing sounds of screams and sirens swirl within your head. The images of horror and travesty will carry on forever, and no one will ever forget Tuesday, September 11, 2001.

I ask some of you, please, push aside all your anger and frustration, so that you may spend your precious energy to help someone else. Whether they were directly in the attack, or a friend of someone in it, everyone needs someone right now more than ever.

The current death toll continues to climb into the thousands. Hundreds of firefighters and police personnel have lost their lives trying to save another. Yet, some of us here at Tweak3D, utilize the power within our voice, to hammer down at other people living on the same soil. Each one of us reading this news post is privileged to still be able to. A simple act of striking a key will never be felt again, by the thousands who perished. Men and women, leaped from the two World Trade Center towers, pulled down by gravity as well as inhumanity, looked death straight in the eyes, as memories of their loved ones, children, parents, friends and relatives flashed like a strobe light in their minds.

Yet, some of us continue bashing and ranting at each other.

Let us all come together and try our very best, to help everyone pull through this very difficult time.

    Thanks for reading, g’nite;

    Tuan Nguyen,
    Senior Editor.

Ok, what happend to the US was a tragedy. But let's not all start going USA hugging how.

That aritcle "A TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES" seems pretty biased, because I myself could argue the other way on more than half of those points. US doens't deserve to bombed to hell (even though they sometimes bomb other countries to hell) but they're aren't picture perfect. They aren't soo much better than everyone else.

After the late incidents, America, in gereral, has lost some of it's feeling of superiority. So that article is mostly just to jerk off america's already huge (albeit hurt) ego.

So I think the guy who wrote that should tone down is USA hugging mode.

Pfft. So I have an "emptiness of heart". I posted my opinions in the right forum/post without breaking any forum rules.

I still think that article is BS. I am now officially empty hearted.

We can do all the goddamn USA hugging we want.

That aritcle "A TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES" seems pretty biased, because I myself could argue the other way on more than half of those points.
Yeah, but you are the exactly type of person this article targets. I thumb my nose at you. You can kiss my Red, White, and Blue ass.

US doens't deserve to bombed to hell (even though they sometimes bomb other countries to hell) but they're aren't picture perfect. They aren't soo much better than everyone else.
You are correct. We never claim to be picture perfect. But we do claim to always try and improve ourselves even if it isn't in our best interest. We spend more money than all of the other nations COMBINED to help other nations in times of need. The ONLY time we ask for help in our direction is when we are logistically asking for help from their countries. You tell me the last time Finland offered any material help to the US or another nation in need that is of any measurable amount.

After the late incidents, America, in gereral, has lost some of it's feeling of superiority. So that article is mostly just to jerk off america's already huge (albeit hurt) ego.
Get something straight. We have no loss of superiority or feeling thereof. In fact it has only galvanized our superiority. We have a WHOLE nation coming together to help our citizens in need, as we ALWAYS do. We know we will find out who did this, and we know we will clean their ****ing clocks. It's time to take out the garbage.

So I think the guy who wrote that should tone down is USA hugging mode.
I, and most anyone else could give a **** what you think.

Yeah there may have been times when we have stuck our noses where it didn't belong, but that is just the way the US is. Always trying to help out when we are asked. Whether it be to help people fight againist an aggressor who is intent on genocide or the help after a massive earthquake.

As an Australian and a need to at least add a little balance to our Canadian friends script.

America has helped out Australia as well at different times, both directly and indirectly. But just last week the Prime Minister of Australia received an award of a firemans AXE in appreciation of the help received by Australian firefighters that went to America to help with the recent fires - so there are times that other people do go to America to help as well.

In a way we are all brothers and sisters, at times we might fight like family - and not even speak to each other for a while - but on a deeper level we do all care for each other. 99% of the posts on this forum show this.

How many of us now that are not in the US would be happy to give blood to the Red Cross to send to America? I'm willing but I have no where to give (and a language barrier).

                    HUG thats for America

I'm happy to hug and care for anybody that needs it - I might have to check the hug thing with my girlfriend first though

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

Evil is too much of a gutless little girl to spout his loathsome, rattlebrained opinions to our faces. If he were to do so right now, any one of us is likely to soil HIS clothes with his own rattled brains.

Thinking with my head, as always. I know that the only way to win is to eradicate the enemy utterly.

An open letter to a terrorist:

Well, you hit the World Trade Center, but you missed America. You hit the Pentagon, but you missed America. You used helpless American bodies, to take out other American bodies, but like a poor marksman, you STILL missed America.

Why? Because of something you guys will never understand. America isn’t about a building or two, not about financial centers, not about military centers, America isn’t about a place, America isn’t even about a bunch of bodies. America is about an IDEA. An idea, that you can go someplace where you can earn as much as you can figure out how to, live for the most part, like you envisioned living, and pursue Happiness. (No guarantees that you’ll reach it, but you can sure try!)

Go ahead and whine your terrorist whine, and chant your terrorist litany: “If you can not see my point, then feel my pain.” This concept is alien to Americans. We live in a country where we don’t have to see your point. But you’re free to have one. We don’t have to listen to your speech. But you’re free to say one. Don’t know where you got the strange idea that everyone has to agree with you. We don’t agree with each other in this country, almost as a matter of pride. We’re a collection of guys that don’t agree, called States. We united our individual states to protect ourselves from tyranny in the world. Another idea, we made up on the spot. You CAN make it up as you go, when it’s your country.

                            If you’re free enough.

Yeah, we’re fat, sloppy, easy-going goofs most of the time. That’s an unfortunate image to project to the world, but it comes of feeling free and easy about the world you live in. It’s unfortunate too, because people start to forget that when you attack Americans, they tend to fight like a cornered badger. The first we knew of the War of 1812, was when England burned Washington D.C. to the ground. Didn’t turn out like England thought it was going to, and it’s not going to turn out like you think, either. Sorry, but you’re not the first bully on our shores, just the most recent.

No Marquis of Queensbury rules for Americans, either. We were the FIRST and so far, only country in the world to use nuclear weapons in anger. Horrific idea, nowadays? News for you bucko, it was back then too, but we used it anyway. Only had two of them in the whole world and we used ‘em both. Grandpa Jones worked on the Manhattan Project. Told me once, that right up until they threw the switch, the physicists were still arguing over whether the Uranium alone would fission, or whether it would start a fissioning chain reaction that would eat everything. But they threw the switch anyway, because we had a War to win. Does that tell you something about American Resolve?

So who just declared War on us? It would be nice to point to some real estate, like the good old days. Unfortunately, we’re probably at war with random camps, in far-flung places. Who think they’re safe. Just like the Barbary Pirates did, IIRC. Better start sleeping with one eye open.

There’s a spirit that tends to take over people who come to this country, looking for opportunity, looking for liberty, looking for freedom. Even if they misuse it. The Marielistas that Castro emptied
out of his prisons, were overjoyed to find out how much freedom there was. First thing they did when they hit our shores, was run out and buy guns. The ones that didn’t end up dead, ended up in prisons. It was a big PITA then (especially in south Florida), but you’re only the newest PITA, not the first.

You guys seem to be incapable of understanding that we don’t live in America, America lives in US! American Spirit is what it’s called. And killing a few thousand of us, or a few million of us, won’t change it. Most of the time, it’s a pretty happy-go-lucky kind of Spirit. Until we’re crossed in a cowardly manner, then it becomes an entirely different kind of Spirit.

Wait until you see what we do with that Spirit, this time.

Sleep tight, if you can. We’re coming.

If you are fanatic US citizen, dont read.

Not to critize anyone, but even EvilDonnyboy has a point ( well its written a bit harshly, but still ).

That "Tribute to America" has written to "mother, kiss my finger and make it better" at the time of crisis.

                              1) Talking about getting europe to its feet after WW II. Hell, most americans ARE related to europeans because ALOT of people took all that they had ( And thats alot of money ) and went to US ( witch at this point had only indian's and some mexicans). So maybe the help we got after WW I or WW II might be some payback from the resources that Europe financed the US to BILD ON.

                              2) Most countries help wictims on ANY earthquake, so its just not US. Situations like this usually the country doesnt have the equipement that is needed for handle the situation, this is not the case with US. Most people are dead after the first 48h after the quake.. for any european would take about that time if they left the second they heard of the accident in the US, usually alot more.

                              3) Who ****ing cares where the airplanes are made and what's the point in this comment ?? Air industry requires a HUGE R&D and so of course they will consentrate to couple companys that now just happen to be from US ( and even this might be argued, companys like these dont just operate in one country, they are international ).

                              4) MoonTrip. The biggest andvances of the rocketry of american history was got from the Naziz after WW II. They had a working missile whoms developer after that helped the Moon projcet .. ( this actually is what i remember, might be wrong, the part that he worked with the moon project.. ). Sure a great achievement, but dont think all was done by US alone... this race was EAST vs WEST.

The whole tribute has absolutely nothing to do with the terrorist act, its full of errors ( or just plain lies ) and was written just to fill a page in a newspaper... it had to do something about US and current situation and this "tribute" is all that guy came up with. The basic idea was ok, but when you multiply everyting by 5000x it becomes just a joke.

This post was not intended to upset anyone just to make a point that if you print it on paper, that doesnt make it so. And i guess US has had the hugs and prayers that any country ever need over the last couple days so you might think some other way of helping than just words.
