I was just wondering if all of you "Bush bashers" have changed your mind.

When the election was all up in the air and then shortly after there were a lot of bad things said about GWB. So, do you still think he is a bumbling moron that is incapable of running the country?

As a lefty Democrat, I'd like to answer this carefully and in a non-partison, non-ideological manner. I'd still be more comfortable with John McCain or George Bush, Sr. in the hot seat. I don't think Junior is the bubble head he's been portrayed as. In fact, I think he's proven himself a quick study and he demostrated that during the debates. However, this is the sort of situation Senior truly excelled at. I'm personally impressed with McCain's leadership skills. I wouldn't mind Bob Dole in this situation either.

There. I left specific Democrats completely out of my response.

Between GWB and that stone faced tree hugger, I feel better about GWB being in charge. Firstly, GWB doesn't feel the need to take a poll before he begins any actions. Secondly, GWB does have Senior to call upon if needed.

I am just glad that McCain has decided to come back into the party for this crisis. He has been stirring up a lot of problems for Bush. And I was worried that he may do the same here.

I can't say if Bush Jr. is a moron. I don't know him. He sure looks like one on TV, but carefull and slow pronounciation is not necessarily a sign of idiotism. Actually i think that Bush Jr. is doing OK, and he has the leisure to act slowly, unlike a democrat would have had. After all, we know that Bush Jr. is a gunslinger with little concern for human life. And having a rather competent Daddy is helping also. What bugs me more is that this tradegedy will probably win the re-election for him.

Alright all, sorry for smacking Wombat with the verbal sledgehammer there. The fact that his judgement was as poor as Chuck's was wise just got to me. I hate politics, and I'm allergic to hay, so that's enough of that.

I just want to say a few things about George W. Bush. He was my Governor before he was my President, so, just as Kindness, I know he is an effective leader who is very good at getting things done. He is not the most eloquent off-the-cuff speaker, that's very true. This is an area in which Bill Clinton excelled. For those of us with a bit more age and wisdom under our belts, we know that one's level of glibness at every turn has nothing to do with one's capability as a chief executive nor should it be used as a measure of one's intelligence. How many of the people here, with our 150+ IQs, would look good when a microphone is stuck in his face? Not many, I'd venture to guess. That was Clinton's forte and is Bush's foible.

George W. Bush should be judged by his actions and his decisions. Look at the supremely competent cabinet he put together. Look at the steps he has taken in this crisis. I feel much more secure with a President who puts substance first and his own image second. He is doing very well, in my humble opinion.

And, for the record, speaking ability has LOTS to do with being chief executive. It's called diplomacy. Every now and then, when I think about W being on the phone with the most powerful of world leaders, I shudder. Remember, this man didn't even know who was running Pakistan, and now we're depending on them for our Afghan operations.

Oh ****ing get off of it. So the guy drank, so what? Do you know many people who don't? Christ, I drank plenty more than I should have when in college. Hell, I drank plenty during my divorce....
Of course, Bill Clinton can do similar actions and when anyone brings it up, it's always "What he does on his own time is his business" "consenting adults", etc. The big difference I see is that GW never lied under oath about his wrong doings...oops.

Get something straight. Being good at speaches and being good at the gift of the gab are two different things. Even the media, as liberal as they are, agree that GW is light years ahead of our previous two presidents in the art of chatting with people head to head. Being uncomfortable with a teleprompter isn't a bad thing to smart people, it's only bad to superficial, shallow people.
