I can't believe what this forum has come to. I remember when all the topics were either in good fun or informative. Now what we have is certain members pounding their chests and refusing to acknowledge that an opinion different from their own can possibly be valid.
Anytime someone suggests an alternative to the bombing campaign, they're attacked by the likes of Joel, KvH, Helevitia. When the moderator takes part in the attacks and fails to restrain those that attack, why bother?
Joel calls Islam a satanic religion and calls Mohammad an a**hole. Pure racist. Backtracking in later posts doesn't change what he said (and am certain he MEANT).
Dr. Mordrid suggests the Taliban hasn't bathed in 6 months, furthering a stereotype.
KvH suggests "growing up a bit" if anyone is offended by his hate.
I've now read two posts by Helevitia calling someone a terrorist sympathizer. Are you kidding me?
I've been a member of the MURC for over 2 years. I used to send people to this board to learn about video cards OTHER than Matrox because of the impartial knowledge, knowing everyone gets a fair shake here. That stopped about a year ago during the battle of "The Soap Box". Most members know what I'm talking about.
Now, I'm ashamed of my affiliation with this board. What used to be a fun forum is now a forum of incivility, hate, and racism. Don't give me this crap about how it's your country and you have a right to demand revenge. It's also MY country. Your vote gets no more attention than mine does. Screaming louder than I do doesn't make your point any more valid.
As long as members like Hel, KvH, and Joel are allowed to use their good-old-boy attitudes to bully others around and then wrap themselves in the 1st Amendment as an excuse for their ignorance and hatred, I have no interest in being a member of this board.
At the very least, regardless of personal feelings/beliefs, Joel should be warning/banning people who post such hateful things. Of course, he would start with himself, but I suppose that's asking for too much.
I hope the non-American members realize we're not all like Joel, KvH, and Helevitia (among others - I just mentioned the worst offenders).
