Step 1: Learn local language well enough to apologize to mother for taking children halfway down the slope after a fall.

Needless to say, I failed that step in Germany.

Here are some mistakes I see beginners make frequently.

    1. Rely on snowplow at high speeds when - it's useless at that point
    2. Tuck and go straight - turning is your friend
    3. Not wear proper clothing - poles hard to hold with frostbite
    4. Not wear butt padding - this is a personal preference.
    5. Be concerned about looking good - nobody cares

Good luck with the skiing, I'm sure you'll create lots of stories to tell until next time you go.

Let's not forget about the most important part of skiing -- getting to the top of the mountain! Those ski lifts can be pretty tricky getting onto sometimes, and quite embarrassing when something goes wrong -- you usually have a good size audience.

Yeah, but like anything you pay for it

Well just got back, as luck goes.....
They have had great weather for weeks....
Two days before we're due to go, we both catch bad colds...
                  We get there....
3 days of snow storm (about 30cm+ of snow) = no skiing

But still had fun playing with my little 20 month old neice and going and doing some tourist type stuff

                  Maybe go skiing next time

Go that way really fast. If something gets in your way, turn.
