Well that is not very hospitable, especially coming from the moderator and directed to a member; (being me) who added much needed spice to the one way bias of this topic . It's odd that you accuse me of being an "exterme liberials"(sp) because I am against the hitting of children, and suggest that people who support this view need to work out discipline methods without violence. Heck, even some courts agree with me.

But the fact that the dialogue did degenerate very fast with verbal abuse against me personally is something you should give some thought to Joel.

Man cannot live on bread alone Joel, you have lived enough to realize how bland life tastes without any tasty toppings. The fact is you haven't added anything to this thread. You have not participated in a debate of any type. I'm not saying that I don't disagree. Hell I recieved a number of sapnkings as a kid even when I was suppose to be old enough to be reasoned with and I truned out to be OK. Yes I do spank my kids when I feel that it is appropiate.

All I'm asking is that we cut out the personal insults againist dancry, because it is forum policy, even though I realize that he started it, although very subtilely.

If you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen especially when you are the one who threw it on the fire in the first place.

If you were serious about preventing personal insults (not just mild warnings with no teeth), you would have deleted Gurm's verbal abuse. You instead let it remain unedited.

Joel, if someone personally insulted like you in that way, I believe you would have deleted the message immediately. But by allowing it to remain undeleted, you gave your tacit approval. That is unfair.

It's not what you say, but what you do Joel. Deleting Gurm's comments would have showed you meant what you said. I think we see enough words from politicians and lawyers to know that words just do not add up to much without being backed up by action.

Do you not think that was insulting as well? There is a wrong way to post in a thread and a right way. If that was the case then your last post would be gone at this point. Don't tell me how to do my job. I get insulted all the time around here but I have thicker skin than to go crying about someone calling me an idiot especially when I started it.

Of course now you have managed to divert this thread away from it's original subject in a continuing effort to avoid the question presented to you at the beginning.

NO it is not alright to beat your child but it is IMO ok to spank your child. I have two childern and nothing gets their attention quicker than a sharp swat on the behind. If spanking is so bad and leads to all the violence we see then why was violence not such a problem before Dr Spock came along and told everyone you shouldn't spank your child?

I've got a Friend who's a bit like Dancray but not as bad. However there were two yobs in the pub who attacked an OAP flattened his son and then left and were stood outside. My friend decides that he should tell them "You shouldn't behave like that you should behave like perfect Gentlemen" Of course with that rubbish they turned round and started coming back in put him on the back.
Any sensible person would have of course closed the door as soon as they stepped out and not decide too have a polite chat.
