Parenting is something that has to be streamlined in order to adapt to the many ways a child can put themselves in harms way. Trying to come up with a different tact for EVERY thing a child could do to harm themselves, or others with is beyond the amount of hours one could devote their time to.

For me Abuse knocking a kid around the room. A short sharp slap across the hands or backside with a relaxed hand without real force isn't.

Just like night I was watching my Neighbours oldest child, about seven smashing his toys and other items around with a garden rake. Now that doesn't need a slap just a sharp vocal rebuke as he wasn't doing any damage. However none came. I presume why this why so many of todays yobs/yobettes just smash things for the sake of it.
