SpiralDragon,

I'm replying disregarding the accusations you wrote. And to the assumptions that (we) Israelis don't know what dread is or to the fact you jeneralised Jews as non Arab killers while intentionally or not , ignoring Israelis.

I'll do reply that:

1. you can't generalise War and Terror in the same sentence or in the same way. War is a two sided thing while terror isn't.

2. There are also many non Arab muslims out there to generalise about Arabs (Iran isn't Arab, nor is Indonesia, Pakistan, Afganistan etc.)

3. Currently the U.S suspects ISraeli jews that come as tourists because they don't know nor care about the difference between Arab and Hebrew names.

4. Europe is still Pro-Arab, whatever the reason is.

i hope that this is true... but my impression from most Hollywood movies is that Arabs are stereotyped as, terrorists, evil people, barbarians, uncivilized etc...
Yes, the rest of the world seems to believe that we are Hollywood. I have a rather attractive friend who spent some time in India and Thailand, and she would get some very forward proposals from native men there because of the impressions they got from our media.

I think you misunderstood my intentions

1. I was not accusing you of anything
2. War and terror are the same thing IMO.... two sided or one sided... both have a disregard for human life..

And please don’t be offended by my words, honestly i was not trying to generalize...

It's okay, SD. Dogbert goes off on a rant anytime Arab-Israeli relations are mentioned. Threads often get shut down because of it. Let's hope it doesn't happen this time.

Wombat,

Yes I rant when I feel I'm being accused.

SpiralDragon,

No harm done.
About war and terror, there are differences, this is why the word terror has been invented.
I care for loss of life but I still see a difference between the classic definitions of both:

War - Armies battling one against the other killing themselves in some sort of less barbaric / more civilized way.

Terror - Armed people massacring non-armed civilians (elders, women and children).

True that today neither of those is at the classic definition anymore. True that there are many cases which almost erase the line between the two, such as the bomb on Hiroshima but still.

There is a huge difference between the petty war of Germany vs. Poland where the Germans attacked with Tanks against the Polish Cavalry
And people who go into a village at night and massacre all people there (Algiria) or any oher example of this sort of action.

I understand..... I am just speaking out of frustration because so much more can be achieved with peace.... imagine if the borders between Israel and Lebanon where open and people where to walk freely and safely across without fear of terror and/or persecution from both sides.... that would be great... but all I can do is dream of a peace that might never come in my life time... maybe in another 100 years the world would finally realize that there is no need for all these boundaries and truly unite under one govt and one currency.... with no fear of persecution and/or discrimination...... the UN hardly counts ... its a start.. poor as it is a lot more successful than the league of nations but still not there... i just hope it wont take a WWIII to make this a reality..... then maybe all nations would stop spending money on military and invest where it really counts; education, medication, R&D... improvement of human kind....

a dream.... yes that’s what it is .. but just maybe one day in the very distant future it might happen.... hay I am a filmmaker in the making... I am supposed to live up in the clouds... lol….. I get ulcers every time I think about it and how I will never live to see it happen…..

Some how I've got a feeling that peace will never be found in the middle east. Theres too many people with vested interests in keeping the violence going.

The pit, sadly you're propably right.

SpiralDragon,

Beirut was once dubbed "Paris of the Middle East",
I now many Lebanese business people have a vision of it returning to the old glory.
I hope for you that soon (no intention to blame or snything) Siria will return to their land
and let Lebannon be Lebanese so you could rebuild everything and return to be the pearl of the ME.
When (opefully soon) this day arrives, money will make sure there will be no problems in our joined border so people and commodities could freely move from country to country.

Heh, you could even make a roadtrip all the way to Cairo.

Dogbert:

not only that... but more as well..... internal politics are just as bad as anything els.... and the people have given up.....

but hay there is always room for improvment...... as for me i dont intend to stay here too long.... i will move on to the west and start anew..... too bad... if things where difrent then just maybe "vision of it returning to the old glory" could happen soon... but not the way they are going on now......

and if the syrians leave... all the better but i hope all the other idiotic politicians folow them out and let the country evolve properly..... this is too much to ask for though... but it is not imposible.....

My take;

1. Islam as a generic religion is not a problem. I know dozens of muslims who are very peaceful and loving persons with strong families and no vices whatsoever.

2. The Wahabi sect of Islam is most definitely a problem. IMHO it's now nothing less than the hellspawn that gave rise to Al Qai'da and a major security concern for all civilized nations.

3. Because of its support for the Wahabi sect, both politically and financially, the Saudi Arabian government has placed itself in a very pricarious position.

It they don't get their act & priorities together by cutting off their financial support for Wahabi & Al Qai'da the remainder of the civilized world will eventually force this on them. If this means seizing the oil fields to cut off the money supply as a last resort then so be it.

At the same time the Saudi's themselves are being pressed internally by Wahabi influenced masses.

Talk about being between a rock and a hard place

4. Because of the ecesses of Wahabi and Al Qai'da the worlds Islamic clerics will come under more and more pressure to distance themselves from them and their activities. This will be difficult in the U.S. and many other western nations because many of the largest Mosques in these countries are Saudi financed and are headed up by clerics with Wahabi leanings.

5. Unless mainstream Islamic clerics get a grip on their own religion someone else will have to. This won't really be a matter of "western agression" against mainstream Islam but will be born of the need to cut out a diseased portion of it in self defence.

If mainstream Islam is smart it'll get to the front of the parade.
