    Truth is that in many cases, you're very right. When god's "favorite son" does something wrong, usually no wrath will fall on him.

    On the other hand, it is very interesting that although women are somewhat inferior to men in the bible, they do seem to have great influence.

    Sarah told Abraham to kick out Hagar and Ishmael.
    Jacob was Rebecah's favorite son while Izak preferred his brother.

    As for David, that woman is stole (Bat Sheva who's husband was sent to the front lines of war to be quicly dispatched) became the mother of 'Yedidjah" - King Solomon.
