Yeah, it's a Mazda Protege MP3...I turboed it a week before that pic was taken. Good eye, man!

I would love to see more pics, and even some stuff you've done to it too. It's a nice ride.

              Hmm, ok, let's see...
here's some gauges I did for my turbo. The top is a boost gauge and the bottom is an EGT gauge. I had to put the A-pillar pod onto the car and custom paint it to match. You can't see what it's supposed to match, but the "top half" of the interior (the roof and all the pillars) are the same color that I painted the pod. Oh yeah, and wiring was a biznatch...

And here's a dark shot, just to show that they match the stock gauges...

Here's a pic of the initial turbo install...it's changed a tad since then...

And here you can see...umm..part of my...engine...yeah.

Here's a decent overall pic of the car while I was getting my award (1st place in my division!) at a big car show. My friend taking pics needs to learn how to center things better! Hehe.

Anyway, the exterior of the car is basically stock. I did paint the calipers yellow to match the car (the stock calipers were all corroded and looked terrible through the rims), and while the car DID come with 17" 5 spoke rims from the factory, I went with aftermarket ones that are a tad wider and a good 6lbs lighter per rim. The "body kit", etc is all stock. I don't really have any plans to mess with that.

If you look closely in the lower grill, you'll see my intercooler. Unlike most people, I kept my black grill there to "hide" it instead of advertising the fact that I'm boosted. :-)

That's all I have for decent pics here. I'll try post some more engine pics tonight.

Nice faceplate, and the body is great, especially with that lowered skirt! OK, nuff about the girl, hehe.

Seriously though, it's a nice car, and I love the attention to detail, like your boost and EGT gauges and how they light up too, (love the orange but blue would be cool too). And I like how you kept it looking stock dispite the upgrades, a smart move if you plan on using the car a lot. Advertising that your car is a racer is just asking for all kinds of trouble anyways. Besides, I think the MP3 has nice stance even when stock, then again I've always loved the look of the MP3 to begin with.

                All in all:

Have you run it on the dyno yet?

Blue would have been acceptable as well, but I decided that it would look better just to match and blend with the stock gauges.

Yeah, plus if I advertise my power I lose the shock factor when I blow away an unsuspecting fast car. :-) I did the same thing w/ my custom exhaust. My muffler is super quiet...just has a VERY slight sound to it, and that sound is quite deep. But in reality, when I get on it, you pretty much just hear the engine. And even that's fairly quiet. :-)

Yeah, looks fine from the factory. No reason to put $ into it. There's small things I'd theoretically change (I'd like a slightly smaller, rounder spoiler), but I really don't care enough to spend $ on it. I'd rather put the $ under the hood.

I almost did TWICE, but due to circumstances beyond my control, I didn't get to either time. I'm only running 5psi on a T3 at the moment, so while it's making decent power, it's nothing absurd yet. Come engine management and larger injectors and I'll crank the boost up to make that sucker MEAN. :-)

Ah yeah, forgot that one. I can imagine your opponant's look on his face.

It's just one of those cars that looks good the way it is, so your choice make a lot of sense to me.

Sure, I'll start a thread about it when I get dyno stats. And then again when I get engine management w/ dyno stats.

                      • I just spent the weekend at a dance exchange in Utah.

I've got Nat's and Mike's pictures up on the web.

and bigger versions of the same pictures at
