175 cm here with a weight in between 70 and 75kg, usually a quite steady 72 kg. That results in a BMI of 23.5.
Just very average (European standard), I think.
180cm and ~80kg. It's OK I guess, but since I quit playing football the little ugly belly of mine has started to make his ugly self visible. And it seems I have started to gather some fat around my face.
I really need to start playing again...and eat better...and start jogging...OMG how is that supposed to happen!!!
The BMI scale is flawed at both the tall and short ends of the scale. It works pretty well for people of average height and build, but for people like me, or people with higher than average muscle mass, it's not very accurate. It doesn't even take into account %body fat, which makes a huge difference.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, at his peak, was 6'2", or 1.88 meters tall, and 235 pounds or 107 kgs. That gives a bmi of 30.3, which would make him quite obese. Probably not, methinks
Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox
I guess that you can do crush tests on hardware with your bare hands
Almost
I wear size 12 gloves and at one time broke a Jamar hand grip dynamometer that was being used to measure my grip strength as part of a physical therapy dept. evaluation of the product. It crapped out somewhere north of 140 lbs. The Jamar sales rep. was not pleased
BTW: I too think the BMI is screwed and poor science. There is no way the "results" it offers on subjects with builds outside what they consider the norms have any bearing on reality.

Exactly! For those who are tall the BMI index makes no sense. At 6'1" I'm supposed to be 185lbs, but hell, if I had a body like that I'd be all skin and bones. At 230lbs, the muscle is there at least, and then some a little. I have a small belly
Edit: BMI 30.2, they consider that to be obese! I know what obese is and if I'm obese than so is Calista Flockheart!

That's what the graph speculates for the only correct weight option, but in reality I only eat about 2000-2600 calories/day at <30% fat. I'm 53 and therefore don't need as many calories as I used to. Holidays are different, of course
I remember after getting out of high school I tried to get my weight down to what the charts considered "normal" in 1968. I eventually got down to 225 lbs, and was almost hospitalized because of its negative effects on my system. Even though I was (supposedly) eating enough and in the right mix I felt (and by all accounts; looked) terrible.
At that point I figured out that God had made me with a large, wide, muscular fireplug of a frame and that arguing with him about it was probably not in my best interests

Hey Doc, I did the same as you whilst near the end of school - I rowed a lot and according to all the measurements I was overweight (skin pinches etc), so decided to lose some. Whilst training 35 hours a week.
I soon burnt out completely and utterly, having got down to 12 1/2 stone by eventually losing muscle but keeping my nice layer of padding. Not nice.
