    mutz,

I really hope you are right, but for a man like Saddam to have these type of weapons in his hands who one day may feel he has nothing to live for anyway is IMO not good.

    RedRed,

Why don't you really tell us who you really think is behind this conspiracy theory of your??? Now don't hold back. Tell us the real people are to blame.

        I'm glad you asked mutz.

Let me remind you about a little bit of history -
Whe the i486 came out, the U.S wanted to limit some countries (including Israel) from getting the DX version since it allowed building an A-BOMB. When the Pentium came, they said it could be used for atomic explosion simulation. When the PS2 came, people talked about the fact that it could be used as a missile guidance system.

Now, with 3 (!) monitors I could plan an H-BOMB on the first, simulate the explosion on the second and guide the missile with the third monitor !

...I think RedRed put one and one together. Remember the ton of explosives in Heidelberg that turned into a firecracker? Remember the guys on the Canadian border in Buffalo, now this one? Remember the Homeland deal and the monster budgets and powers it wants?

Pointing no fingers (of course ) I have to say that I had the same thought as RedRed when I first heard the news. The timing is a little, erm, "convenient" no?

And yes, I too am a little worried by Doc M's knowledge... although, to be fair, 'nuff respect!

Plus it was all about a little sarcasm on my part. Some just don't seem to get it.

Saddams hardened underground bunkers, many of which are where his nuclear program moved to in order to hide it. Some of these are out of the reach of current bunker-busting bombs at over 200 feet underground. Ever wonder what that ground penetrating radar on the space shuttle is used for besides looking for achaeological sites?

Start looking below some of his "residential" palaces

This is one reason why a large move to produce a whole new generation of bunker-busting bombs (both nuclear and conventional) has been underway.

Yeah....that blew me away too. They just turned 'em out before even finishing the tests on the material they confiscated.

Amazing.....unless they stuck some tracking devices in their shoes

Joel, nobody was pointing fingers at anyone (maybe some pointed in a general direction... ). I must say that I thought the same as RedRed, and I agree with Mutz.

And yes, I wouldn't be happy with Saddam owning weapons of mass destruction, but honestly, I'm not feeling very good about GWB owning those (or anyone else for that matter - these are just the two that seem to have the least reluctance to use them).

And I really am scared by DocMordid.

I dont know - what are the CIA for, if its not for setting up the excuse for a war the President/Rumsfelt/Chainey wants(but a significant proportion of the population dont)

Apart from a few tons of chemical and possibly some biological agents (with NO effective delivery), Saddam's war machine is, in effect equivelent to a large WW2 army. Thats fine to scare Iran, but he knows that ANY use of whis WMD will remove him/his country.

He is NOT stupid. A bit crazy, yes.

The only chance you will have of seing his WMD would be if American and British troops are knocking on the door of Bagdhad. He will have been destroyed then, and will have nothing to loose.

He cant do MAD (mutually assured destruction), but may be able to apply some pain to Americas intrests in the region (none to the US). I would severly doubt if he could even do that.
