Alice, what do you mean - do I know you? If you are making a subtle jab without explanation, that creates problems. What do you mean?

Sorry Alice if you feel that way. Perhaps you can block me out by some blocking opton on MURC.

OK, I just have to ask, whats up with the chicken jokes? Dont any other animals cross the road?? For your information, we cross the road to see if we can cause you to wreck your car, trying to miss us.

Back on topic, I agree, it is hard not to take some insults at your leaders personally.

Alice, you have a point. I must say that most Mexicans are really decent people, at least the ones I have come in contact with. In fact most people period are decent people. That does not change the fact that many customs and many outlooks (including their treatment of women) are very different. That's the problem here and the problem with Muslims in Europe is even more pronounced. It's a matter of "whose country is it anyway?"

I'm sorry if I offended anyone's sensibilities in the other thread, but the problem really exists because no one wants to face up to it.

One last thing and then I'll shut up. The problems in Europe today would not be there but for two world wars. These wars took the healthiest young males and slaughtered them in the name of some stupid "isms." In the second world war, it was women and children being slaughtered as well. What was mentioned about France in the 1800s was due to Napoleon driving the young men to his will and being slaughtered in battle. France in 1870 was a pushover while France in 1800 had been a world power. War destroys countries in ways we don't always consider, and usually they die with a whimper. I can very well understand the desire of Europeans to avoid war. War is evil beyond measure.

Your absolutly right. In Europe, nobody wants to look at problems right in the eye. The problem with the muslims, even here in Lisbon, is that their culture is completely linked to their religion, and it´s such a strong bound, that we can´t really talk about assimilation. Here, they got huge amounts of money and bought one of the most privilieged places in Lisbon to put their mosque, which is also the highest place you can find. The fact that it´s there doesn´t bother me, it´s just a construction, what bothers me is the idea behind it. And we know what it is.

                      Thanks KV,

War may eventually kill the victor... its true enough... look at the rate of decay of the British empire from 1800-1960.... there was such a drop in power after 1945 - the country had pumped its heart out across too many fronts....

                      /thinking of some joke..... agggggggghhhhhhhhh!

                      head explodes!

Alice, what is it? I really dont know....

                        Please...
this thread has NOTHING AT ALL to do with MUSLIMS, a fear/hatered of them,
it has NOTHING to do with Europe
It has NOTHING to do with the US
It has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the Middle east.

Lets try to keep it together....

Kv, I find it very good that you now calmly lay your arguments on the table

I can certainly understand that one can get quite emotional on this subject, but consider this: the quieter you speak, the more people will listen. I really mistook what you said about mexicans in the other thread, just because you posted very emotionally, and I read so.

I think we can manage it
