Its pretty hard to burn glass, you know...

AFAIK, as the shatterproof window film is on the inside on the window, its not to hard to break the window from the inside and push outwards.
There was a test at the time it came out by one of the car mags that proved getting out wasnt too hard. Getting in involved repeated blows with a housebrick, and eventually using firemans guantlets to carefully pick the glass away and then cut open the film with a sharp knife.

I once had golf clubs stolen through the rear side window on an estate car. It looked like the bastards used an automatic punch to make the hole. I was still finding glass 2 years later.

My Father once had the side window implode while doing 90 mph on the motorway (prolly due to an improperly fitted window motor). He even found glass beads in his underpants! (or so he says anyway. Perhaps it was just a metaphor.).

I feel for you Paddy. If you catch the bastards, just call me. I'll jump on them for you - we know they won't like that

I had my side window smashed to bits here next to my work place. The bastards were looking for my radio's front panel (since so many people remove it and 'hide' it in the glove compartment).
Luckily mine was on me so they searched the car and found nothing. I on the other hand was facing a broken window, a car full of broken glass and a large stone on the passenger seat.
Lot's of swearing, cleaning and $70 fixed the situation.

I had an idea while reading all of these. Anyone remember the James bond film with Roger Moore and some guy tries to steal the films cool car; the car blows up taking the would be car stealer with it. Costs a car but hey thats one theif less and an added deterrent as who wants to die for a stereo. I say it should be allowed

There was also a sticker on the window saying warning fatal car alarm or something

                  Sigh,

I had this happen to me too (well, to my mum's car, which I was looking after while she was overseas)

It got broken into just outside our house, passenger side window during the night. They didn't take anything, but the mess and cost to repair it are just depressing.

I did select burn em all, because that is what they deserve. I would personally do it myself, slowly, with a pen lighter.

                  Real ****oles, these people are.

its decided then - link the windows to a switch which ignites the gas tank....

bibble, much simpler than that, hide shockers in both front seats. Arrange them in such a way that they shock anyone tampering with the stereo system or trying to start the car without the proper keys.

If he means setting off a spring loaded shock-absorber, then that could be... Imagine one of those firing up through the seat at you...

Nah, just knocks them out so you can tie them up and get the pen lighter out

ah but i prefer my more visual approach. just think of the deterrent factor of cars blowing up in car parks. As in minority report the finality and certainty of the sentence would reduce the crime rate. Bit of a shame for passers by but there are down sides with all great ideas..

reinstate 'traitors gate' Heads on spikes should be a good deterrent.
