Yep. People who claim that the Bible can't be used as evidence then have to contend with archaeology. Problem with that is that you dig far enough - you find Jews. Oops.

If you use the Bible, then technically the Jews inhabited 'Isreal' long before Moses came back. Abraham and crew lived there before they moved to Egypt during the great famine.

As further 'Biblical/Torah' proof, Abraham offered tithes to Melchizedek, King of Salem (later renamed Jerusalem) in Genesis (1st Book of Moses) chapter 14, verse 20, would denote that the ruler of the day was of the same faith of Abraham, founder of the Hebrew nation. So unless anyone has records or scientific evidence dating back before then, the Hebrew faith wins as the oldest known possesors of Jerusalem.

But my wifey having a degree in History from a religious school will tell you without a doubt that the Bible is not considered a viable historical reference. Of course, most of us are not scientists or historians so that doesn't really matter much.

Well if the Bible isn't historical evidence, then neither is the Koran.

So we have to rely on Roman records. Roman records show that they captured Jerusalem from the Jews.
