I like the little pleasures our planet has to offer a lot more than the idea of being a colonist....according to the poll, there will be at least 20 people who will go and brave the martian storms instead of me, while I sit on my lazy ass and watch Futurama
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Well, if the other colonists happen to be Vicrotia Secret's models, we'd all sign in, even if we were to go colonising the sun

It's amazing how many people just don't pay attention. Stop talking about Mars or the moon here.. we are talking about a nice, green, Earthlike planet.

And with new viruses to cause lot's of entertaining new diseases... Not to mention the ones we'll bring with us that'll exterminate all living creatures on that planet.

That, and there's so many places I haven't visited, plus I wouldn't want to be the one they send to fix the ship half way there!

Or if you guys got hit by a meteor going Mach 9000, then I wouldn't want to be on board for that either!

So much to do on earth, why leave?

Anyone want to bet that if we do find an Earthlike world somewhere, our immune systems wouldn't be able to tolerate the local pathogens/allergens to the point that going outside without a full space suit would be fatal?

Likewise, the pathogens we bring with us could wipe out all life on the planet.

Absent those two factors, sure I'd go. In a heartbeat.

                          Kevin

To ensure the survival of the human species, and life in general.....

                            To live on the frontier....

To do something out of the ordinary....

To leave something for future generations.....

Not for everybody, but certainly for me.
Let us return to the moon, to stay!!!

Doesn't interest me much. I enjoy what we've built already here on Earth. Why spoil it and go to Mars? IMO Mars will not be a beautiful planet for many thousands of years. Bleh. Ok, maybe you'll have greeen houses but that's it.
