  • How far should Avatar's go?

Just recently there has been the odd avatar floating around that goes beyond the level of respectability that has always been shown on murc (you know who you are).

I'm no prude, and even find things like Zoke's avatar amusing, but I am a bit nervous about the questions my kids might ask if they see it. Now what do I say when they get a close-up of the squirrel?

So, do we ask people to refrain from non-family-friendly avatars, or do we just let them get on with it?

    Keep it nice..

I don't want to see an avatar of Tony naked and jiggling!

The line has to be drawn somewhere.
It's up to us or the moderators to decide around where that line actually is and put it in the murc rules/faq.

I see some people want free reign. Why not post your reasons?

I agree with Dogbert: there has to be a line somewhere... Hopefully, there is no need for the moderators to do this; we should have the common sense to keep our avatars decent...

Now what do I say when they get a close-up of the squirrel?
What do I tell them when they see a brain with eyes...
            (just kidding)

That would make a good place to draw the line !

No avatar should be naughtier than the forum girls

Those of us that glance over MURC at work would appreciate the "nicer" side being kept to. Having said that, I do find some of the Avatars v. amusing.

And Zokes has GOT to keep his.

By the way, the day I see Tony jiggling naked in this forum is the day I leave MURC for good

I think we should keep 'em nice. Now I'm not claiming that seeing nine-pixel wide squirrel testicles will traumatize a kid for life. I'm just saying that I can't see a reason for NOT keeping it nice, because there are plenty of good avatars that don't cross the line. IMHO Zokes' avatar is absolutely fine, but the squirrel one is kind of borderline (although it's based on a true picture that has been circulating the Internet for quite a while).

Edit: Okay, so my avatar wasn't "nice" for a while yesterday, sorry for that. It was only meant for replying this topic (warning, 9 pixel wide squirrel tescticles ahead).

                          Dogbert: No.

And... using Liz as a line might be bad, considering what she has posted as an avatar whilst tipsy and being egged on by certain individuals.
