Personally I think they should build something as big and ostentatious as the towers were....maybe even more so.
Call it a nice, big "F*** YOU!!".

I'm with Joel, but make that a 200 story middle finger.
Not only is it appropriate but it's very much in character with New York City

Anyway, saw a documentary on Discovery where the wanted to make a big city like tower (as I remember they started the construction already). Was supposed to be round and thined as it got to the top, sort of an elongated cone.
They wanted it to be a city of its own, with offices, apartments, fitness clubs, restaurants, schools...
edit: I'm not sure but it might be called the Babylon tower...Last edited by Admiral; 18 December 2002, 14:14.

I seem to remember some monstrosity of a building from Akira which was about as tall as the twin towers but was solid building about the size of the whole WTC site. It had a highway going through it..
From these designs, the worst by far is Meier's. What an eyesore! Two tic-tac-toe boards set upright next to each other... blech! The rest are all pretty much horseshit too, except for one.. I really like the Peterson/Littenberg proposal. The towers are taller than the old ones, but slimmer at the top (certainly smaller targets ). They look like buildings too, not some idiot's half-baked attempt at a gargantuan piece of modern art. And the memorial and surrounding spaces are an amphitheater and multilevel connecting gardens.. it's a beautiful design, and I hope they pick that one.
