btw. even a 10 year old can look through the US argumentation and see whats at the bottom.
--The Iraq has must have mass destruction weapons because they didn't proove they don't have. If Blix and Co. don't find anything then they haven't been looking good enough obviously, but we won't let them look longer because we have that super-secret intelligence information showing that they have mass destruction weapons anyway. We are very afraid though we cannot show it to you, nor tell you anything about. We can't even tell Blix where to look, because, you know, super-secret!--
If the Iraq indeed has mass destruction weapons then they won't even be able to invade Cyprus or the Christmas Islands with them. Which pretty much ridicules the whole pre-emptive strike thing.
oh and on the oil thing:
The US military has drawn up detailed plans to secure and protect Iraq's oilfields to prevent a repeat of 1991 when President Saddam set Kuwait's wells ablaze.
At the meeting, on the future of a post-Saddam Iraq - details of which have been disclosed to the Guardian - the state department stressed that protection of the oilfields was "issue number one".Last edited by thop; 23 January 2003, 10:43.no matrox, no matroxusers.

I hope the lessons learned and the west doesn't sell to tin pot countries again. I wonder how many are going to die over this in the end.

Come on Throp. You think the US should ignore the oil fields and allow Sadam to torch them? This does not imply the US is interested in controlling them or Iraq after an invasion, only that it is obvious that the oilfields need to be protected to prevent an environmental catastrophe.
BTW, I have not commented on this issue up to this point because I don't agree with this administration on much of anything they say, but preventing destruction of the oilfields is a no-brainer to me.Last edited by Brian R.; 23 January 2003, 11:36.

Its been also stated that the Iraqi oil feilds are going to be held in trust for the Iraqi people to help rebuild the country. But also remember that this directly benifits the US with lower Gas Prices and its realated benifits. Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

How many more of these types of threads are going to have to be locked or deleted before y'all realize that this shit is not welcomed around here anymore??
Take it somewhere else. There are plenty of political forums elsewhere on the net.
In other words enough is enough.
JoelLibertarian is still the way to go if we truly want a real change.
