BTW, believe it or not, I do work for NASA, on satellites for close to 5 years now. I did my BS in Aerospace Engineering.

 I don't know about any dumbass force fields, but the outer rim of our galaxy is about 20,000 light years away.. anyone want to calculate how long this journey would take, even at say, warp 11?
