  • Selling Columbia wreckage...

I find this apalling, and wonder whether the people involved have any idea what type of biological/chemical and radioactive material they think isn't going to harm their health, IS actually present.
Shuttles carry nuclear batteries and such i think....

Anyway, ethically, its just a big NO!

I just wanna see what most people think.

Thats wrong in so many many ways. Real or fake.
Not to mention if they are real parts it will hinder the research into what happened.

      Thats exactly right.
They need to re-construct as much of the shuttle as is possible, to be able to find the source of the failure.

That's going to be a nearly impossible task, you know. Take a look at the expanse of the debris field. That's a huge area, and it's mostly forest. What isn't forest is swamp, and some pretty vast man-made reservoirs. A lot of it would have burned in the atmosphere, but what didn't is probably mostly sunk or stuck in 100 foot pine trees. If they find 30% of the Columbia they will be doing well.

True. but some bits will have survived....and every little piece is a part of the answer...

Over 1100 pieces reportedly found sounds like a lot to me.
IF they are all real, then that will be useful to NASA.
          Every little bit helps

The eBay sales are illegal, and the FBI has already said that they're going after these people.

That is just WRONG. It really ticks me off that these people at a time like this can think of nothing else but their own persona profit and gain. I'll bet they'd sell their mother's last good kindey if it would get them what they wanted.

THey have a russian recovery craft that can bring them down.

Any attempt to sell pieces of the shuttle is illegal because the shuttle is property of Nasa nevermind the interfering with in the investigation angle. These insensitive morons are technically selling stolen property.

There where reports yesterday on Fox news that there was a number of people taken to local hositablies (sp) after touching or being around the material.
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?
