    It was this one.

I didnt even see the one by GT98, it was deleted so fast, but thanks for the link Az, pretty interesting from what I've read so far.

      This is really getting silly

I wont be bullied by you or anyone.

I have read BOTH articles, The Hammas one could just as easily have been written by your own extreme RIGHT, but much of it wasnt that bad...
I read the second link, as I said (I got an inside track cos you PM'ed me.)

Did you take the time to read any of the other books available there?

      there is little difference.

anyone who stands with them should be destroyed because we refuse to bow down to a dictatorship and follow the 700 year old teaching of ancient Islam, which makes us the infidels.
What Bull from an educated man.... we bow down before a 2000 year old set of Rules.... And Jews abide by a 3000 year old rule book.... whats the freakin difference? True Zionists believe that the Israel is their because it was given to them by God - 4000 years ago.... you are blowing it out your

GT98's article was insightful, not least for the fact that it came form an American scholar of some note.
It really ticks me off when we have this level of censorship.

The difference it that I don't believe that they should be destroyed because they don't.

I read the second link, as I said (I got an inside track cos you PM'ed me.)
That's why I PMed you I figured you would be the most objective reader around.

        GT98's article was insiteful
So did I. Just confirmed what I have always known though. And seeing your post just helps me that much more.

It really ticks me off when we have this level of censorship.
What really ticks me off is for people to get so upset when I do close an Anti-American/Israeli thread and then get upset when I don't close one that goes againist them fast enough.

Joel, Who is having a really great day in spite of it all.

Joel, I have to agree with RedRed here.

You don't want anti-american threads, which is fine. We want freedom of speech, something YOUR constitution values VERY high.

People did NOT complain that you didn't close the thread you are referring to fast enough, they just wanted to show double standards. They just wondered why "anti-american" threads (which GT's very obviously wasn't, as it was opened by an american, contained a link to a text from a respected american, and specifically asked to discuss said text without getting personal) get closed so fast, yet other threads where it gets personal (since that was the reason those threads were closed originally) aren't.

If you colse threads that are getting too personal, that's fine with most people, I think, and it's what's expected of a moderator. Yet when you close (delete!) threads before anyone can even say something, it's censorship. And if you value your country so high that you undermine its very constitution, something is not right.

              Thanks AZ...
I believe that a thread should be closed by the Mod when ANYONE makes a formal complaint about it. Its not up to a mod to decide that a particular thread may or may not go off the rails, at some stage in its lifecycle. Its to act responsibly WHEN complain has been made, not before.

You seem so happy to let a thread continue when someone makes comments personally insulting to another murcer, provided the subject is not one to which you take offense.

I have never taken offense at loosing an argument, or being corrected. I do take issue with a 1 liner close thread or stupid name calling.

I get PMed more than y'all know. And I will say one more time I am not the only one who can close or delete threads around here.

But whatever. I will take all that has been said into consideration.

                    Thanks for the understanding, Joel

My criticism wasn't aimed at you personally, but rather at how these matters are handled here, by whomever.

PS: Sorry for being a proud American that takes Anti-American sentiment personally. I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot y'all would feel the same. Actually some of y'all do. I just don't think it is right to try and blame the US for all the troubles in the world. I'm not saying that we are perfect, no one is, but I do feel that for the most part we do try to do what is right. Unfortunately like everyone else we do f**kup once in a while it just shows up more because we are considered the #1 superpower in the world and everyone is usually looking to us for a solution when there is a problem.

I don't think anyone is blaming the US for everything

It's just that some of us see things different than you do, which is perfectly OK, as much as it is right for you to have your opinion and view of things. Diversity is very important, otherwise we'd be like a state of bees. I really think we should get away from that "Anti-something" stuff. Just because you might not like our opinion on things like Iraq, that doesn't mean you hate my whole country, or me personally.

I believe we CAN discuss things peacefully and without name-calling, and if our mindsets differ, the better: How boring would the world be if we all had the same opinion, what else would there be to talk about?

The problem is guys, is that it starts off as a "USA did this wrong". Then someone says "haha, only America!". Then every American starts waving those stars and stripes almost as quick as the thread is deleted. I've almost given up hope that an anti-US issue can be discussed rationally.

If you's are given a chance to discuss it rationally, then do that. Ignore the anti/pro-US drivel whoever it comes from, and respond to the rational comments in a rational manner.

I've only corresponded once with Joel over his moderation, and feel he tries very hard to keep everything at bay. TSB has had a couple of rough patches, but it's pretty calm now I'd say (maybe because we've got the Parhelia now...).

And remember, we don't want kids reading all our drivel and becoming just as bad as us. Just look at the number of kids running about with AK47s fighting causes they probably can't spell.
