By the way, in all seriousness, and despite my usual poor taste as demonstrated above, I found nothing really offensive about that post, and am quite surprised that anyone else was truly offended, either (though I'm not surprised to see Brian voicing his offense).

I sympathise with TX and anyone else living in Israel at the moment, especially with a wife and bright future at stake. Those others of us sitting comfortably in armchairs elsewhere in this world should also sympathise. What's happening there is very serious and very scary, and the scenes of terror are not pretty. I am more offended that anyone chides our Israeli friend at all. His reactions in the face of such a mess are really quite mild, considering.

That being said, I do agree that this should have been posted in Temp and that if TX should feel the need to lash out because he thinks he's been slighted by moderators, he should do so with a bit more tact and be a bit less confrontational about it.

You know Doggie, this is exactly the kind of childish behavior that got your last account banned, and forced you into hiding behind a new nick for months.
Stop making mountains out of molehills. Is one lousy thread worth losing your posting rights again?

This is a great example why PC is stupid.

Dil, just so you know, the joke is about the landscape and the current (not so fun aspect of the region) not any one people. Many believe it is not a vary nice place and looks like s**t!.

In a way Tx was putting himself down as much as anyone.

            No offence Tx...

I have never been either anti-American nor anti-Israeli. I have been anti-bigotry, yes. These forums have been full of bigotry, which I have attempted to denounce, by expressing my own views, which include a certain measure of pacificism and open-mindedness, which is contrary to most of the opinions expressed in them. The fact that I include military action, state-approved murder and terrorism (passive and active) and suchlike as not being part of my credo may appear to you to be anti-American and anti-Israeli, as does bigotry against Islam. However, I have also denounced the actions of my own country - and others - on many occasions.

However, this is always dismissed by right-wingers as being liberal, wimpish and pro-European. I don't believe in such generalistic labels, because I take each cause on its merits and on some of them, I'm probably more conservative than you, but on others, the opposite will be the case.

Finally, I have some good friends and colleagues in both the USA and Israel, both of which I've visited, on many occasions. Many of them, but not all, sympathise with my points of view, but none of them dismiss me with a label. I equally have friends in a number of other Christian and Muslim countries, as well as those of other faiths.

If that is what you believe then so be, but those of us who have been on the recieving end of some of your post we see it otherwise though.

These forums have been full of bigotry, which I have attempted to denounce, by expressing my own views, which include a certain measure of pacificism and open-mindedness, which is contrary to most of the opinions expressed in them.
Aren't you such a saint. But in expressing some of your views you have also expressed you own amount of bigotry.

However, this is always dismissed by right-wingers as being liberal, wimpish and pro-European. I don't believe in such generalistic labels,
If you don't believe in such generalistic labels then why did you thus use one yourself in the above quote?

And besides I said sometimes not all the time.

                    Firstly, I am anything BUT anti-women.. I'm simply anti-feminist.
Sorry about that, I was just trying to make a point since it was stated that part of the reason that the thread was closed was because of TX's very pro-Jewish views.

                      Well said!!!

But then again I am a non-british european, extreeemely liberal and clearly too far out on the left wing of most things for some to respect my views...that's the reason I refrain from posting in threads concerning politics.

@TX: man you know how mutch i agree with you on that view... "This is the reason why the ME is in deep shit..." thats why i am leaving.... personaly i did not take offence of your post though i can see why others have... and if they did not then surly your reply did the trick....

but Dill man... though i see and understand your conceren ... and TX does tend to put his foot in his mouth too often.... your retribution was a tad bit an overreaction as others have clearly pointed out that he and others, including my self, have done alot wors and gotten away with it.....

so i sudgest (and here is me reaching out for my fier resistent suiet) that we all just call down and try and look beond this litle missunderstanding befor it turnes into something big and ugly..... like KVH's reply

I didn't say they were the only ones.. but Arabs are not usually terror targets there. In certain areas they might be targeted by the army, but if you are living on Hamas street, you can pretty much expect fireworks in the neighborhood, and should know you are in a war zone, and get out if you don't want any part of it. The Israelis sitting at some generic bus stop somewhere suddenly being blown to bits.. they should not have to worry about that.

I'm off line for a weekend moving and all hell breaks out. sheesh.

Dil is well aware of my views regarding the Temp forum, it has been bloody close to being closed down - with a whole swag of you having your accounts chill boxed or baned.

No, I won't name names, as I want you all to sweat over your actions.

I will not get into a debate over if the thread should have been moved. It was, people reacted badly, it was closed.

End of story, If not closeing the whole forum, I've been close to locking all the threads in it myself.

Consider the thread lock a general warning not specifically tied to that thread, but a warning shot in general of MY general feelings of what has been happening in there.

People COPE, end of topic, any whining from now and I'll start chill boxing or banning - and I don't care who you are.

                              GOT IT?
                              Juu nin to iro
