    A dodgy translation
    ---
The Canadian manufacturer of 3D-Grafikkarten with own chip-development will introduce to first reports according to in the course of this year his/its next chart-chip with the code-name " G550 ". After Matrox brought out in the last year with the G450 only a production-optimized version of the G400 from the year 1999, it becomes highest time for a new product. In order to be competitively, the new will hardly make do 3D-Chip without functions of DirectX8. It is however unlikely that Matrox competes with Nvidias GeForce 3 approximately and implements the Windows-chart-interface completely. For the company held in the private property, such a project should be too costly especially since Matrox primarily has the Businessmarkt in the eye, for the many DirectX - 8 -functions secondary is. After reports of The registers and the Tech - report should decree the G550 over two Renderpipelineses with in each case three texture-units and is driven with a bar-speed of 200 to 250 MHzes. Somewhat more concretely, boss-developer expressed himself/itself Dan Wood in a lecture in July of last year.
Therefore, the G550 probably becomes function-being-ness (Vertex Shader), for which so named " matrix contains palette Skinning ", with which one " can shape organically round " transitions between arm and shoulder and the facial expression of speakers realistically approximately. Also " Perturbation Mapping " for surface-structures was a topic of these presentations.

After reading the translation it looks as if they lifted it from TheRegister .

Anybe Ant should put it on the news page to make it really official

IMOP The MB G series suck big time. They suffer from frequent mechanical problems and are not reliable at all. Furthermore u may get permanent hearing damage from the excessive noise from the engine.
A certain model is being sold as a military vehicle by steyr. I am not sure which one though. Nothing like the hammer though.

Just to clarify things I am refering to the ones manufactured by Steyr.

Thanks for the MB feedback (got something useful out of this thread )! I don't have any need for off-roading but we have been enjoying our MB 4WD wagon, 300TE 4Matic, for the last 10+ years, The wagon is perfect for a California car that goes up to the mountains for an occasional ski trip. I just was amused to see yet another company making a G series, a name most of us has grown to admire.

Sorry, but the heise newsticker got worse and worse the last months, and more often they just quote rumours, other sites, are late with their news, and so on. Having read this news, they only say that the reg and tech report have said that the g550 will come blah...

BUT, I've had a look at the forums over at tech report, and someone over there said his friend worked for a big OEM and Matrox told them not to buy too many Matrox cards now! Now if that isn't evidence
