    Ok,

what does it take for you to understand that there are issues left over, false claims and dropped support ???????

The G450 was supposed to have vodeo overlay on both monitors.

I am coming frm the VIDEO site, so your gaming hints dont apply to me.

What i was looking for is in retrospect similar to the 3d gaming needs.....faster rendering for preview on video effects.
Full on OpenGL so we can see them in realTime especially AE and Boris, so I qualify for production enviroment and business use i think......

None of this is done with this upgrade, neither can i get a simple question answered in their forum.

    http://forum.matrox.com/mgaforum/For.../000496-2.html

You tell me, I have to buy a card to get this answered ? BULL.....this is an issue that is asked directly to a member of their support team that i had this conversation prior with....they flat out refuse to answer, they force you to buy their stuff and than get an answer, if its no good, I am out money and time spend, RMA if even granted......if i cannot get support upfront to tell me if my stuff is supported to make it work with my OTHER stuff that i bought from them at a lot HIGHERcost, than what's the point here ?

I cannot understand why you keep defending such a uneventful release.

But i am sure you have your reasons, obviously not the same as mine.

I am upsat, frustrated, disappointed and let down over and over.
I just want to buy what is not outdated a month from now

Yeah I'm alittle disapointed with the G550 myself, but I wasn't expecting much after seeing the predicted specs for it. First the G450 comes out and is SLOWER then the G400 it replaces. Now with the G550, we get an extra pipeline or what ever, but that isn't going to make a huge difference in performance, plus a bunch of other shit that isn't really worth it for a home user. Looks like Matrox is more or less content on getting its OEM deals (which after awhile you have to wonder if the OEMS will put up with the shit they are using (I.E. Core design thats been around for over 2 years, come on this isn't a CPU where you can boost performance by higher mhz) and lack of lot of DX8 features, such as T&L etc etc).

I loved my G400MAX and I refuse to give it up or sell it, but its been out of my box since I got my AIW Radeon last December and more recently by my KRYO2 card. I refuse to buy a Nvidia based product after my experance with my friends Geforce2 GTS and its horrible 2d peformance and Nvidia's strong arm tactics. My experance with my Radeon was ok, but I was tired of putting up with Bullshit Beta drivers and forever tweaking games to get them to work right! My Experance with the Kryo2 card so far isn't that bad but I've only have had it for a month or so and its lack of TL could be a problem down the road in 6-8 months. I really want a Matrox Card in my next computer I'm putting together but I'll have the Kyro in their till Matrox comes out with something truly Next Generation!

I agree with you mdhome, all you guys are doing is speculating without actually seeing reviews and benchmarks.

If the G550 does what I want it to do i.e. provide me with the best dual head in the market, very acceptable 3D performance and quality, we already know what the 2D is like, you can bet that I will buy it as soon as it's released.

So cheer up guys, if you want 1000fps in Unreal or Quack3 go buy a GF3.

Matrox did it again, and produced something unique in the market, this Headcasting thing is a very good feature especially for businesses that cannot efford video conferencing equipment that costs $$$$.
Also I see it used for online chats etc. at home as well.

        Cheers,
        Elie

          Ellie ?????

you of all people, know EXACTLY what i am talking about, I cannot believe you're defending this...well take that back.........hehehe

Fact is, this is NOT the stuff that is needed, this is stuff they want us to buy, they did NOT listen to the user at all !!!

First of all, you don't have to buy the card first, all you have to do is read the reviews or see actual demos.

Techsupport or any Matrox rep cannot comment on products that have not been released or announced yet.

If you want to accelerate AE, I think the best option is to buy the ICE card.
But to tell you the truth sirhardi, for what the G450/550 costs I doubt you'll get everything you're asking for.
There are many cards out there that cost over $1000 that will do that kind of stuff.

            Cheers,
            Elie

i dont want 1000 fps in quake 3 (i dont even play it )

i just want 3d speed that is good enough to support games for at least a year without having to drop to less than 1024 with 32bit.
maxpayne, for example wont run very good on the g550 im afraid.

but i also want 2d quality, matrox support, murc forum , dual head, nice controls

and i like matrox, and i would prefer them over nvidia and ati anytime, even if it means a speed difference of ~30 percent, same way i supported amd even when they were slower than intel, but the g550 doesnt give me enough arguments for buying one, i guess i'll stick to my g400 max till either the radeon 2, kyro 3 or g800 (or g-whatever) come out

but thats just my opinion, and i hope that not everyone thinks like this and that matrox sells enough g550's to be able to bring out a gaming card again soon

                Yes,

I can see that Ellie, and what then ?

I have adjusted my new system to be build exactly to MAtrox Spec's, if i choose to get a different manufactures card, than i am screwed as always, they always poiont the finger to the other components, there has never been an acknowledgement that it is their stuff !!
I WANT to stay with Matrox but man whats the reason here ?

Name one Eliie......would you buy this if you were not in the position you're in ?

I know you cannot answer this.......

I just hoped this new card would make up for all the difficulties that came with the other stuff.

ok, I wont complain again until the benchmarks confirm that this card is slower than nVidia's 1 year old budget card......

edit: oh and like Topha, I dont want millions of frames, just a Matrox card which is pretty decent

also, i dont think they had as many people as they did working on a card like the g550 for two years, i just hope they will announce a g-more-than-550 this year, aimed at gamers (if they want to they can even include headcasting in there, a vertex shader with 256 registers doesnt sound bad)

                      Chaps
I genuinely feel that this should have come out with 128bit DDR and a much higher clock speed. That fact that it doesnt indicates that Matrox must have other motives. I would also like to think that Matrox could turn this around and bring out a MAX version in the near future that would be on par with some of the fastest.

From a personal point of view I feel the way Matrox the treated the MJPEG issues with Win2k more indicative of the company than the release of this card.

I can understand your point sirhardi, I for one really need the card for dual monitor support and 3D rendering etc. I would probably buy the card anyway so I can test it with RT2500, I mean it's not expensive or anything.
Why don't you wait and see the reviews and what others have to say before you concider it?

                        Regards,

I don't understand some of your guys' surprise in this release. How much clearer could it have been made to you 'chaps'. Matrox had a big time PR move a couple of months ago where they did a couple of interviews and even some press releases that cemented the fact they are going to cater to their target audience (not gamers) first.

Yup, I DO understand. Im just disappointed, like I guess many people are. Although I doubted it would happen, I still hoped my next card would be from Matrox, cos their cards are so great!

since the g550 is (for me at least) a big disappointment, anyone heard something new about the g800??
