  • The SNK Neo-Geo was one of the finest (and most expensive, if I recall correctly) 16-bit game systems: http://www.neo-geo.com/
This was over 10 years ago... They sold both console type machines and arcade-type "telephone booths". The last time I saw one was in 1998 when I served my time in the Finnish army. At the cafeteria where you could meet the friends and relatives that had come to see you they had one of those arcade-type Neo-Geos. It was mostly running some kind of soccer game, I think...
Edit: Oh yeah, and it also had Bust-A-Move, that puzzle game featuring the dinosaurs from Bubble Bobble

      • I remember it, came from a SNK email list I think, they said they had a leaked spec sheet for a proposed new console. Funny thing was when I asked Matrox about it expecting them to laugh at the idea they said "we cannot comment on that at this time".

        • Continuing the offtopic dicussion:
Some further searching on the web revealed that the Neo-Geo was more than just the 16-bit console. SNK also released a handheld device, the Neo-Geo Pocket Color. Additionally, in 1997 SNK released their final product, the Hyper Neo-Geo 64. The company declared bankruptcy and shut down in 2001.
...so I don't think we should expect a product from SNK using Matrox tech anytime soon.
